only learned/understood about layering sub sines like 2 weeks ago and from here no less but been doing it a ton since then really just about anything will do the job in my testing so far but I only have/use two synths besides what came in ableton so all in all not much experience to give you the best opinion

A really nice guy here gave me a instrument rack in ableton that was basicly a kick designer so I reverse engineered it and stripped it down and back up to understand what was happening, anyway so I use operator for it now because thats what I learned to make it on. Buttt I understand enough now to do it in my other synths but its so nice to just drag in a preset in live with all ur macros and such that I always end up using the operator.

I only started layering my bass with sub bass not long ago, what a difference that makes, its becoming obvious to me that the 'secret' of making those polished productions is layering.

I know people go on and on about it, but its not until you discover it for yourself that you understand WHY they go on and on about. But not obvious layering, subtle layering that helps accent certain parts of a song/vocal/bass line whatever.

When layering sub bass to bassline, dont do it so you can hear it. Just nudge it up in the mix till you can feel it just rounding off the bottom end of your track. It works absolute wonders.

Reaktor 5 has an excellent ensemble called Laserbass that has fantastic sine-sub sounds.

Is this a default ens? I can't see it in the user-library.

Will check this out when I'm in the studio.

Oops, I misspoke. Laserbass came with Reaktor 5.5, not 5. Yes, it is under the "new" ensembles.
