Roland td 12 midi into protools?

Hi all, I run Pro Tools 8 and I have the td 12 kit. Can I record from the td 12 module into pro tools using the midi output? I've tried doing this but I don't get sound in the mix.. Do I need a plugin for pro tools that I can control with the td 12 drums on order to get sound?

MIDI only transmits note and controller data, it has no audio. You will need to plug the audio output of the kit into the audio input of your interface.

Yeah, I've done that but I'm actually trying to figure out a way to use the midi out so that I can take what I record and quantize it (snap it in to the correct tempo). Thanks for the midi info though. I guess that answers my question as to why I get no sound.. Does anyone have any idea if I can use a plugin with drum sounds and control them with my Roland drums? And still be able to quantize every piece?

What's wrong with using the TD-12's sounds?

I love the sounds.. It's just that I don't play perfectly on tempo.. Guitar is my main instrument.. I need to be able to use the quantize feature of pt to get the drum track perfect.. But I don't want to use a keyboard because I want some "feel" in the track

Just feed the MIDI out of Pro Tools back into the TD-12 sound module for playback. Make sure you set the Local Off on the TD to avoid phasing.
