Things I wish I would have known before I bought Reason/Record

I knew that there was no MIDI out. Not a deal breaker for me so I can live with that.

The one thing that really boggles and frustrates me is in Reason AND Record you can only record one midi track at a time! This is such a simple task that EVERY other DAW does that its almost unbelievable. Not having this capability in Reason is one thing but not having it in Record is nuts! The only work around is Rewiring Reason into another DAW and that kind defeats the purpose of using Record.

Second, no drag and drop support for importing MIDI and audio files. And to make it even more annoying, when you import a MIDI file a new combinator is created so you have to drag your MIDI block to the instrument you want it on and then delete the combinator and do it all over again for each file you import.

Also, why no "ctrl-p" or "Apple ," to open the preferences window????

For as ahead of the game Propellerheads is they sure did miss the boat in some simple areas.

Yeah I bought Duo V5 when it came out.

Have you heard anything about them fixing some of these issues?

elginchris, I'm sorry to say I can't help you.
I've read about the new machines but nothing about those bugs.
You should repost this thread on the official propellerheads forum.

I didn't know you just can record one midi track at a time, that's weird

Back in '90 we didn't have Reason, we had a Mac IIci, Studio Vision and a lot of hardware synths & samplers which could run you well over $10K to get what Reason does for you by design. E-mail Propellerheads support ASAP, they may take your notes into consideration. No one said this game was easy, so get those creative juices going and get back on Reason! Half the fun getting there and it's those limitations which sometimes spark the creative talent with-in us. (MIDI out excluded!)
