Shipping Synths (seawater a problem?)

I have a couple of synths I am shipping from Thailand back here, just wondering if I should be wary of how I get my friends to pack them before they send them..

i guess i'm thinking of the SH101 its components and the sea air and my pedals

the nord rack 2 you could probably drop in the water and it would be fine so not as worried about that

is there a preffered packing material or method i should use

would hate for them to spend 3mths at sea to arrive rusted out etc..

cheers slutz

I'm sure they'll be inside a bulk container, which is the primary means of shipping smaller parcels and packets.

usual packing includes:
a watertight plastic cover or bag
silica or simular moisture absorbing packets inside it
an inner shock absorbant buffer (packing material)
an inside box (usually the manufacturers box)
packing material inbetween the inner and outer box
an outer box against sharp objects and to provide stiffness

make sure there's a sufficient buffer zone for all parts of the synth (not just the top and bottom but the sides too
and the synth needs to be fixed, so it cannot move and damage itself because of the packet being handled. that includes PSUs and such!

also include warnings on the outside (caution breakable electronics)
and insure against damage and loss for the real value of the objects inside
take care of decent, readable (and water resistent) adressing and the correct paperwork of course, and your synths will ship, without a hitch

They need to be wrapped in 2 layers of extra heavy duty aluminum foil, and then packaged inside of a hermetically enclosed, vacuum packed container filled with machine oil, and then put into a bubble wrapped ATA flight case and insured for 140,00 Thai Baht.

You should be fine!
