Thread Starter | HELP!! With Ableton and sudden CPU issues
So I've been using Ableton Live 8.2 for the past 3 months on a Lenovo Y560D Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6GHz 6MB L3 Cache Turbo Boost up to 2.80GHz 4GB DDR3 500GB HD 7200rpm SATA and for the past 3 months everything has worked amazingly and with little CPU usage. Last sunday I used it and it worked great but then I went to use it tues day and I moved my laptop and never plugged it in but the computer was running on battery power in sleep mode. When I plugged it in Wed and went to use Ableton when I loaded my song the CPU spiked at 50% just opening the song when normally it would be around 10% and if I attempted to play the song it would have so much latency and the CPU would be up around 120%. I haven't installed anything new and although my tracks do have a lot of VST's and effects none of my songs have done this. I reinstalled everything on my laptop including windows and when I opened live its seems pretty good but now with even a couple synth tracks causes my CPU to rise up to 20% when before it would hover around 5%? I did forget to mention I use a M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface. Thanks for all the help and sorry if I left any important details out that could help. |

Might be your power management settings. I have an i3 and I have to set it on max power to get Ableton running when I'm not plugged in. (It shuts down a core otherwise or something.)

Thanks Lilita I tried turning the computer power to full as it goes and I still have the problem. I forgot to mention that I always use it plugged in and the night I unplugged it and moved it I never ended up opening any program or logging on cuz something came up so I assume the battery died on the user entry portion of windows setup. I'm wondering if something heated up from being on battery power for awhile? Could my RAM or Processor go?
