Thread Starter | "Ducking" through a summing box?
is this possible? If one of my kicks are setup to "duck" the bass and one of my synths, how is that possible when sending everything grouped as stems in 8 stereo pairs through a summing box? How can the ducking effect be achieved this way? |

ok first total noob so sorry if I get terms wrong but isn't ducking the same thing as side chaining? r you saying your sidechaining the kicks to the synth?? Or you mean like sidechaining to synths to the kick? Sorry I dnt know the answer for your main question just never heard of sideing to the kick to something I always thought it was the other way around

you want one sound to pop out while another is ducked, right? that's possible with the sidechain of the gate: the one I linked has a ducking function. you put this in front of the summing box, or after, but then you feed it's sidechain the signal you want to have in front. you can use a split of the raw (not summed) instrument stem, or you can filter the summed signal (not as effective) more here and here hope that makes sense |

If you're ducking ITB, then buss the two to their own channel and then that goes out to the summing channel as if nothing ever happened. -a |

+3 Use a channel or group plug-in. Your 8 submix audio channels exit the computer and thru the summing mixer as normal.

you can just put the compressor plugin on the individual track you want to sidechain, or one of the buses feeding the outputs the your summing mixer if you want to effect a whole group, depending on how you are grouping your summing stems. i often do both with filters and compressors used for sidechaining |
