Thread Starter | soft delay recomendation
Can anyone recommend a good delay plug in? Thanks. I always use the delay that came with SX3 but think its a bit boring. ![]() |

By 'soft delay', do you mean a software delay, or a delay that has a soft tone (ie like a tape style delay.)? There are a lot of different types of delay... depending on your need, so it's difficult to give you advice without more info. My favorites, in order of how much I use them are: Logic Tape Delay GSi-201 (Roland Space Echo emulation.) Logic Stereo Delay Soundtoys Echoboy |

I love Augustusloop. It's based on an audio tape loop delay and nothing I've found does it better and more flexibly.

My definite favourite for echo type effects is, by a large margin; audiodamage dubstation. It does what I want - fast and with no fuzz, dead solid. For just widening a sound, instead of using reverb I like to use a free one called G-delay (its part of a whole pack of G free plugins, simmilar to the mda pack) |

I love the delay on Logic's Pedalboard... Unfortunately that won't help you unless you are a Logic user

ime nothing comes near soundtoys echoboy. closest thing to analog delay ive heard ITB so far. organic, stands in the mix etc. more extreme feedback settings are where its more noticeable its an emulation, but still very useful, musical. esp if u automate things like delay time.. my 2c |

No one has suggested these 2 yet Ohm Force :: les cuisines du Ohm Studio Audio Damage :: Discord3 Both offer a bit more than normal but might not be to your taste, worth a look though. Best all rounder has to be Echoboy, worth it's weight in gold, not saying much considering it's entirely weightless, but it's good.

My go-to delays have all been mentioned: - Sound Toys EchoBoy - FabFilter Timeless 2 - Ohm Force OhmBoyz (for delay mangling mayhem!) That said, if you have an iLok (or don't mind getting one), Waves SuperTap is on sale for $28 - that's a no-brainer IMO.
