Program tunes sample?

Has anyone come across a program that you can load a single sample (a ringing kick drum for example) and have it quickly tune it to C or whatever so that it can be played melodically? I have been detecting the pitch of samples and transposing them to C for now, but its still not going to be perfectly tuned if the sample was not originally meant to be "in tune". Know what I mean?

in Ableton there is an instrument called Sampler and when you load a sample into it it will automaticly play at a different pitch/note/whatever depending on the key you hit or draw in. i'm not totally sure if there is other software that can do the same thing but i would think there should be

For sure there SHOULD be. But does it tune the sample? And does it tune to the nearest "cent" or just play it back transposed...or "as is"?
