80's style percussion Instrument recognition

Hi, Im trying to establish the percussive marimba/xylophone style instrument which comes in at 00:57 of this track. Its prominent in quite a few 80s and balearic tracks that I have but it doesn't quite sound like anything of a percussive nature in the Kontakt library for instance.

I would also appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of good quality sample libraries for the instrument.

thanks.

Pretty much sounds like marimba to me.
I guess it might be a more primitive African marimba type, but as it's likely to be a sample of some kind it's hard to say.

Coming from 80's Spain it's likely to be an old Akai library.
You could try these for Kontakt though:

This is FREE!

On the Akai thing....
I used this a ton in the 90's:
Spectrasonics Sample Libraries : Heart of Africa

I'm not sure if that made it on to many balearic recordings however.

I also used this quite a bit:
Dave Samuels - Marimba & Vibes - The highest quality multi-samples of marimba and vibes ever recorded

One of the most beautiful tuned percussion libraries. Not widely used though I think.
