8-ch convolution (impulse reverb) plugin (VST) - Pristine Space - Voxengo

Here is another, Rayspace, but in real time, and less complex I suppose
RaySpace

Quote:
RaySpace is a completely new acoustic room simulator. This unique reverb creates up to five channels of surround-sound reverb, all calculated in real-time. The characteristics of the room shape, height, positions and materials can all be adjusted while you listen, making RaySpace a very inspirational and spontaneous tool. All reflections are modelled, not just early reflections, and are calculated with speed-of-sound accuracy. The 3D view and the parametric equaliser complete the audio and visual feedback of room designs! With full automation, source and listener positions can be 'walked' though the rooms, ideal for patching dialogue in radio plays or films. All impulse responses can be exported in high resolution for use in convolution reverbs. From concert halls to bathrooms, cathedrals to sewers, you can go anywhere you desire
The fun stuff with these is that, not only can you design your own environment, but you can place your source and your listening position anywhere you like.
It's quite convincing
Most conventional reverbs have a static position in the centre of the space.

The reverb from this clip uses such an impulse. A strange long space from memory.

The good news is, it's freeware. Bad news (for PC users!) is that it's Mac only.

I don't use a lot of reverb, but you can get some interesting effects with some of the more experimental Impulse Responses for Convolution Reverbs.

The nice thing is that you can customize your own special IR's by loading them into a standalone WAV editor and doing whatever you feel like to them.

You can also make your own IR's of some software reverbs by loading an impulse and rendering the results.
