How to get THIS synth sound?

Hi Guys,

I absolutely love the sound of the pad at the beginning of this track, but am having no luck creating it. I wondered if anyone could help me out? If anyone could help, I'd vastly appreciate it!

CĂ©line Dion – If Walls Could Talk

I'm trying to recreate it using soft synths.

Particularly Reason's Subtractor, which I use. Though if there are any particular VSTi's that are going to be better suited, let me know, and let me know how I can achieve this totally ITB.

You need spootify to play the track, personally won't install it so can't help.

Sounds like lush pad with tons of layers, try Alchemy or Albino 3

I'm not really big on synthesis, so how exactly could this be achieved?

Sounds like a nice synth with some reverb and eq.

Where it's from who knows, but I usually find it easier to produce those sort of pad sounds on hardware synth keyboards and then add some reverb / delay / chorus etc.

what synths do you have available?

it's a fairly generic pad, so won't be hard to get something close.

The thick under pad is likely a couple of prophet 5's spreading out the minimal elements of the pad left and right.. then spread out with something like a Roland dimension D and delay. but there are other embellishments. could be some fairlight and maybe D50. or maybe yamaha DX7/SY77/99.

it's hard to say really but I think the prophets in there. you have to listen a lot and map out what kind of sound comes in where. it's a subtle and dense arrangement.

might be Jeff Bova who did the keyboards on that.

and/or record multiple layers of pad patches and mix. A lot of times what you are hearing is not just a single synth/patch but a layered mix of several.

Omnisphere on the high end, camel's. Alchemy can be had cheap they may even have a free demo w some pads and in the middle is the Korg Legacy Digital collection with the Wavestation and M1.

Can you break it down for me a little more, I literally haven't the foggiest about Synths or layering them. I can novicely operate Reason and play keys. Just been too used to being Mr Preset :/
