Gearslutz social gatherings......

Hey, I don't see a "user group" type section anywhere on the site where likeminded people can get together socially once in a while, have a few beers, discuss set-ups/ musical interests/network and possibly partner up in the studio.

The reason I am posting is I am moving to Las Vegas in the future to set my project studio up and it would be great to hook up with others from the site (I know nobody in Vegas) and knowing a few people with the same interest out there would be nice.

Cheers

Indeed, especially up here in the northeast. A friend stopped over a bit ago as I was looking at an informational vid on ImpOSCar 2, which was just released earlier today. He said, "What's that?" "A synthesizer." "A what?" Sometimes I really feel like I live on the dark side of the moon.

Cool idea. We sometimes have Gearslutz meetups at the tradeshows (Messe, NAMM).

I'm in the Dallas area, not too many people who even know what electronic music is around here...

I'm just up the road from you Dallas fellows (Oklahoma City) and if you think the lack of like minded folks is bad down there try driving a few hours north!

We should organize a little meet-up/hangout session!

I actually expected to hear that folks from a huge site like this are already hanging out in various cities, seems not. So, if anybody in the Las Vegas area thinks this might be a good idea then lets get together, I think we would all have a lot to gain.

It is not that bad here (bay city) but it is mostly kids raving over their radio shack cans! where you at? I know a few people in saginaw witch is right next to me but I try to avoid going there whenever possible!

I moved to San Antonio last year and still don't know anyone besides coworkers. The electronic scene seems scarce around here. Besides a few dubstep nights, which I avoid.

My experience with Austin is totally different than you guys. It was one of the few places outside of CA that we played where I felt people really digged IDM/electronica-ish stuff. But that's probably because I'm just used to Oklahoma.

I'd love to find more people with similar interests here in north-central New Jersey. Crossing the Hudson is such a hassle, especially with equipment.
