Ableton to Moog Mp 201 to FreqBox

Can anybody tell me how to use the Moog Mp-201 as midi to cv converter coming from ableton via usb to an Oscillator (manuel had nothing to say) / Explain how to use to Moog FreqBox as an oscillator instead of something that syncs to audio. When the sync is in off mode I can't have a tunable drone adjusted by the the freq. like a typical oscillator??

create a MIDI track in Live, select MP-201 as your MIDI output device for that track (assuming you're using USB from computer to MP201); make sure it's set to the correct MIDI channel for your "pitch to CV" preset on the MP201.

There is a factory preset, #50-something or near there, that should already be set up as an example pitch to CV+Gate patch. The Gate won't help with the freqBox (although there's a mod for this) but the pitch CV will work.

Now set up a MIDI loop clip (in Live) that is simply playing a note and an octave above the note.. play this out to the MP-201... first of all notice if the MP-201 and freqbox seem to be responding... if so... on the MP-201, adjust the CV SCALE parameter until the freqbox is playing correct octave intervals. Adjust the freq knob on the frqbox until the root note is the correct pitch.

That should basically do it; this is from memory so you may need to interpret accordingly. Hope this helps.
