b: good humored, like saying i'm pissy, and that i have apparently urinated on my socks. c: i think this whole thing is very amusing, that is the only reason i continued to converse with anyone on this thread. for one to get mad because i don't like your synth(s) sound is very amusing indeed.

the amount of posts means nothing, i know i am doing this because it is fun and people with crappy chips are getting chips on their shoulders. you keeping up with this makes me wonder... ^_^ e![]() oh well, i knew i wasn't going to make anyone who paid a shit ton of money on a piece of crap like the prophet 5 (signed by someone who didn't want it anymore in some cases... haha) change their minds. i just know all of the people who sold them (and most of the others containing that chip[haven't heard the voyetra in person]) are happy that they made out like bandits and bought better synths. my thoughts on the OPs question still stands. my answer in short: pro~one = poop, non Bob Moog Moogs are bastards that Bob did not invent, so why spend the money on them when you can get a Bob Moog synth from before he left, and after he got the Moog name back (as in the Voyager). not so short about the Bob Moog thing, but I still stand with the opinion that after he left, synths were made that I believe he never would have agreed to (like the prodigy). ^_^

| from looking at that picture under your name and reading your posts in this thread, i can take a guess i got a computer to count them for me. and adding another two posts to that total makes 20, so im guessing your fairly bored too if your spending that much effort on trolling pro one owners. |

For what it's worth I had both at the same time for the last two or three years and actually sold the Pro One. To me the raw tone of the Prodigy is nicer, rounder more organic. The Pro One is great and more flexible but I just found the type if sounds it makes easier to replace with something else.

even though the prodigy is not a bob synth, i would take it over any sequential synth if price didn't matter. if price mattered, i would take the most expensive sequential synth and sell it for something that didn't suck. man, dave smith makes really boring crap that shouldn't be boring based on the specs... maybe he puts in really boring chips, and then adds dave smith magic boring powder to them? really, the evolver shouldn't have bored me to tears within a few days of owning it.

so one of my promo photos says i'm "the big bad wolf" and my posts that are in a dry wording make me very upset? damn, now i need to have a new pic and start talking about rainbows and how wonderful 3340 chips are and start praying to a magic fairy that makes perfectly good water booze and... nah, i think i will keep the pic, my attitude with people like you, and my hatred of 3340 synths... oh, and my hatred of the religious and religions (this is just mentioned because i thought it would be fun to derail the thread with my hatred of god loving dips). that was off topic, like everyones dislike of me for not liking their synths i just was giving my thoughts in a non trolling manner to the op, that may have had some strong opinions. and if i actually laughed out loud to shit (yet amusing) threads, i would say "lol" about the fact that you can't count using all of your fingers and toes, and you had to use a "computer" to calculate my posts. i know that you were probably joking with me and my urine socks, but who knows? F your selective judgment "i'm the nice guy" attitude. and yes... i am bored... too sick to work on music, but well enough to browse the horror show that is the gearslutz electronic music wonderland (not that anyone actually cares about anyone). i don't troll i give my opinion to an ops question, then i am usually yelled at by a bunch of pissy gear hoarders that don't even write music on even a semi professional basis. boohoo and yes... i do find this amusing, and fun... for now.

back to the original question, get both. the moog will be great for basses but ultimately superb for leads. nothing, in my opinion, will do a lead quite like a moog. I have a pro one and love it for bass and sfx but for leads its moog all day long. if you are going to get a P5 whatever revision get the moog. if you dont have one in your arsenal you need at least one. is this the best moog ever, no, but it will give you that moog sound at least. the older moogs(pre90's) have a different sound to them. spend some time with the moog and see what im saying. you might find that you like the pro one better for leads. these are only MY impressions. |

[QUOTE=revstate;6598936]A: My Voyager kills the pro~one in every way, and all non Dr. bob moog made moogs. It kills most monosynths (most synths imo). wow... I tried a voyager once... bought it, took it home, had it for a couple weeks. hated it. it sounded nothing like my Mini Model D or Prodigy... it sounded muddy and veiled in comparison... returned it and felt no shame for doing so. The build quality is nice, but that's it. I have a Roland SH5 and on original lawsuit SH3, both are fantastic but my Pro One still has a place in my system. The Pro One to me is a great example of a simple, but effective and huge sounding synth. It is capable of some pretty amazing sounds that I will not get from my Roland sh's, my Korg MS's, my Jupiters, My Moogs, My Yamaha CS's and I have plenty of all of them. Saying the Pro One is shit speaks volumes of you, but to each their own i guess.

Well, one thing is for sure. Sometimes people can be very passionate bout their opinions, and their synths. This thread was almost like a boxing match. Two opponents pitted against each other...let the games begin. But both instruments are completely different on many levels. But back to the Voyager and Bob Moog and the Pro one and Sequential Circuits. i actually like the crazy Pro One. It's wild and adventurous. The modulation matrix takes in a lot of directions. It's actually the only Sequential Circuits instrument I like. I never liked the P5, and I don't like any of the new Dave Smith synths. The P5 always sounded like cold glass. Almost restricted and contained. I have a couple of Chroma Polaris synths and they also have CEM chips (different versions), but some have also called the Polaris cold and sterile. But the Polaris is much more pristine, and achieves a much more warm sound, it can sometimes sound like a Synthacon, or an Oddy, even a mini for certain things, and then some really unorthodox sounds as well. But really, all of these synths will yield something unique unto themselves, and that alone makes all of them viable and worhty. |

I was walking into the grocery store when something very obvious hit me. i would rather have any of the analogs that i trashed on this thread than a digital. I then realized that I would rather have most digital out boards than software synths. Then came the obvious... I would rather have a crappy soft synth than not having any synth... so when it comes down to it, I don't hate any synths, there are just some that I like more than others and some that I like less than others. I loved playing with my pro~one when I had it, but then I got something I liked better, but that's no reason to trash the pro~one. I just wanted to apologize to everyone that I offended (probably everyone), I forget that this is actually reaching other people and hurting there feelings for NO reason. I was taking out a bad part of my life on a forum instead of kicking some inanimate object. The net is not a inanimate object, it has people on the other end, and they have feelings and opinions and I offended people here and I hurt peoples feelings. I am very sorry for what I did, and no excuse will make up for what I said, but, I am truly sorry. Take Care -Ben |

![]() Whenever a thread begins to get heated, I try to imagine the same conversation taking place among buddies, over a couple of beers, and realize that in a real-life setting, we'd probably be having a good laugh over all of this stuff -- even if we happened to disagree about this or that machine.

I think you are correct that how when on the net, people forget that they are talking to real people. I myself have made this mistake too many times, and I am trying to correct that.
