Thread Starter | K2000 and VAST synthesis
So I just got a K2000 and i really dig it's sound but am wondering if anyone here has mastered V.A.S.T. synthesis? I haven't made an attempt at programming it yet, but am wondering if any K2000 owners can share any tips/cool tricks for when I dive in? (things the manual doesn't mention etc.) I'm kind of scared of the k2000 |

Two things that come to mind are : Make good use of the sweet distortion you can get from winding up the output page gain (AMP) and "play into the crack" like you would a guitar into a tube amp. Hovering, humming beauty! When building new sounds, go right in on the partial level and f with it. One level deeper than naturally assumed. Go in there and you'll see what I mean. The harmonics partials are great! Boy, I miss mine, might have to get another.......

Yeah i've been been wanting a rack version to use as a sampler with the vast architecture.. they're so dirt cheap now days it's almost a no brainer if you're into serious sample manipulation.

More pointers: - forum.sonikmatter.com - Shane Etter's Soundsubs library, if you can still get it - lots of good programming in that |

They're very, very good for extremely dynamic, chaotic modulation, self-playing patches and whatnot. Aliasing can be an issue, so be careful when using the synthetic sawtooth waves, sync algorithms, distortion, wrap, clipping or waveshapers. The modulation rate is about 50 Hz, which is really slow. It's interpolated so there's no zipper noise, but there's still an audible sort of portamento effect on fast pitch changes. The PC3 line should be greatly improved in all these areas.
