Doing the smart thing...

So, I won an award at my job today that had a nice cash prize (1000).

Been wanting a machinedrum. Badly. I tempered my GAS and ordered room treatments instead. Felt a pang of longing. But I cant keep denying the point that crap acoustics have an undeniably crap effect in the mixing process and final product. I think this will be a delayed gratification, but a lasting one.

Good stuff man. I know it isn't instant gratification and satisfaction like having a new piece of equipment at your fingertips, but once its all done, and you hear your old mixes in it, and realize all the little errors you missed, it will put a big smile on your face.

Nice one. It's the next thing I'm going to do. I would rather upgrade my interface, my monitors, get some hardware, but at the end of the day its all a bit pointless if my listening environment is terrible. I'm going to go all out and spend about 1500 on getting the room under control. I'm going to be making music here for the next 3 or 4 years at least....
