Trade Prophet 08 rack for Moog LP-II?

Hey all.

I rarely ask these types of questions, but here is the situation:

I've been wanting to sell all my rack gear for a while (Prophet 08, Waldorf Pulse & XT, Yamaha EX5R) mainly due to being tired of dealing with MIDI issues, but also because I'm going towards a modular-centered setup.

There's an opportunity to trade my Prophet 08 rack (older, non-PE version) for a Moog Little Phatty II (the one with arp and CV I/O), and it looks very tempting.

My rationale is as follows:

Pros:

+ CV inputs that would come handy for using with the modular.
+ Simple-architecture synth for basslines and other stuff would free modular resources for more complex sounds.
+ Better basic sound than the P08.

Cons:

- I could use the money from the P08 towards modular gear instead.
- No CV outputs -> can't control the modular with the LP using CV.
- Monophonic (not really an issue - I'll keep my Nord Lead 3 for polyphonic stuff).

So, would you do the trade, or sell the P08 to buy modules?

I couldn't live without an analog poly after I got the p8. If I had another poly which could replace it, I'd do the swap.

You just said earlier in your post: "Moog Little Phatty II (the one with arp and CV I/O)"

So it does have the CV Out mod?
Maybe there is some confusion about the LP revisions.

All LPs have had CV Inputs from day 1.
The CV Outputs are an optional upgrade for any model (Tribute, Stage I or II). They aren't standard except for a few "special edition" models like the Redback.
The arpeggiator is a software update and can be loaded into any LP.

As for your decision I would go with the LP. I do think it sounds much better than the P'08, features and polyphony aside.

I regret selling my p08 quite a bit as well. If you are going the modular route, I'd actually keep the polysynth. What can the LP do that you couldn't do better on your modular? Now if you were selling the prophet to fund more modules, I could see that.
