Here's my Dalek effect, using the Korg Radias ring modulator effect. The Cyberman can be made by changing the effect frequency.

I've corresponded with the gentleman who does the Dalek voices for Dr. Who. He told me he uses a Moog MF-102 Ring Modulator.

I've had the privilege of working with Roy Skelton who was one of the original voices of the Daleks for Dr Who ( and for any UK residents of a certain age he was also the voice of 'Zippy' and 'George' from 'Rainbow' )

A lot of the character of the dalek voices is the core sound and performance of the actor playing the part. The other traditionally is the EMS Synthi/VCS3 Ring Mod - That was the original source of the Dalek sound from the very beginning of Dr Who till the 2000

Beer.

excellent information. i am just getting into the Doctor Who series (1963-64 era) and find the Dalek voice to be both interesting and unsettling at the same time.

I loved the early DR Who series! I watched it in England in 64-65. I was a big Dalek fan! I even had a big ass Dalek toy.

i could never get into the 70's era i saw on PBS as a kid - the early stuff is dark, plenty of dark ambient sample fodder for sure

Yeah, in one of the Doctor Who Confidential episodes it shows him using one.

Actually there is a rather good iPhone, IPad app made by the BBC
called
" I am a Dalek " sounds realistic to my ears.
