Thread Starter | MIDI, alternative tunings and SEM
Let's say I have a MIDI file with an alternative tuning. Is it possible with any combination of gear to send that file and tuning (possibly as a MTS bulk tuning dump) to a SEM patch panel and have it play with the alternative tuning? I just got a reply from Kenton that Pro Solo II does not understand MTS. I wonder if some other MIDI->CV converter does, or SEM pro natively?

I highly doubt the MIDI converter in the SEM Pro would accept an alternate tuning bulk dump like you are talking about. You should email Tom Oberheim though, he is great about answering questions. Your best bet is probably to use one of the software packages that lets you customize Control Voltage, such as Expert Sleeper's Silent Way, or MOTU's Volta. Then send that to an SEM Patch Panel version. Or the CV inputs of the SEM Pro would work too, just bypassing MIDI all together. Your computer's audio interface needs to have DC-coupled outputs for that software to work. Or Expert Sleepers makes a Eurorack interface. Just check out these websites: Expert Sleepers - Silent Way MOTU.com - What is Volta? |

Thanks for the tips. Volta looks promising.
