Guitar Emulator?? (esp. Acoustic Guitar)

Hey guys, I'm having a hell of a time recording acoustic guitar in my bedroom. The acoustics and the quality of some of my gear is making it futile. I was curious if anyone knew of ANY guitar emulators that sounded genuine(ish).

And on a side note-- Anyone know of an article or two on humanizing programed instruments??

Thanks for any help.

Well, if you know how to play guitar well you know what it can and can't do, using something like one of the Lyrical Distortion libraries has possibilities (if you have Kontakt).

Video for the Jupiter 80 showcases an acoustic guitar. Just don't tell anyone here about it.

Well one of the great bargains out there for a guitar emulator is the Roland VG8 ( you will need the GK pickup with it) you can get them crazy cheap on ebay every once and a while. VG 99 has acoustics too, again you need the pickup. Personally when it comes to acoustic I think real mics are the best route. Some of the acoustic guitar samples in the Motif are nice too.

there is Guitarist,

Sugar Bytes Guitarist

based on electric guitar models though, but you could try it's guitars clean or with moderate amp settings for a more acoustic sound

make sure to listen to all the vid and examples cause it has a wide range of sonic possibilities and playing / sequencing options

If you have a piezo pickup under the bridge, try the Fishman imaging pedals. I just picked up a used one and the difference is huge - sounds like an acoustic guitar now.

Acoustic guitar is one of those instruments (like saxophone or the human voice) that simply can't be synthesized particularly well. The worst recording I've made of a real acoustic guitar is better than the best-sounding fake acoustic guitar I've ever heard. Sometimes you can fake an electric guitar, but that's touch-and-go too.

Honestly, why don't you just learn how to record your guitar? I hate to be a prick about this, but I can think of absolutely no way you could get anything better than "almost acceptable" from any kind of MIDI guitar instrument. Even a pretty nice Motif still sounds like utter and total cheese unless it's buried in the mix under 2000 pounds of other instruments.

Don't make this hard. Put a decent large diaphragm condenser mike in front of the 12th fret of your guitar. Listen. Does it sound good? If it doesn't, move the mic until it does. Play the part. EQ as necessary. Done.
