Thank you
I tried MIDIOX, but the same problem would appear.
It's the ReMote SL that won't recieve any data. I guess something is blocking the SL from recieving. Although I could update the SL with the Automap Software. So strange.

I love the sound of MW-1, it's probably the best sounding synth I've ever had, but I can't use it properly. I'm desperate! Please help

Actually you can use it properly. Its just a little more limited than with a controller.

Maybe there are templates in the remote SL now and its not letting you over write them. Can you try to delete the existing templates and then do the transfer?

Even if your are not able to set up the SL remote with it, don't despair. You can still get some realtime control over some parameters by assigning and using the W,X,Y, and Z assignable cc's which you can tie to another knobby controller of some sort. It works quite nicely. Its enough that I decided yesterday to put the SL remote in the closet and to only bring it out when programming patches.

Oh gosh! The SL is now working perfectly. Thanx to a sevice guy from Novation in the UK! He told me that my templates could be causing the trouble. These templates came from the waldorfian website. I guess they're messed up somehow. So I used some other templates I found on the German "Sequencer" page.

And now, everything is up and running! I'm the happiest guy right now

If anyone else has this problem, just get these templates:
Microwave 1 Templates

Thank you for helping! Btw. I have another question: Is it possible to switch the MW-1 to monophonic?

To all those who contributed to this thread, excellent work! Extremely helpful stuff here. I landed a Microwave v1 this weekend.

I intended to just flip it but after about 5 minutes I realized that would be a mistake. But I absolutely have to get a programmer, I'm not going to sit there spinning the big red knob, regardless of the great sounds I can get out of it. I just don't have the time.

Is there any way to identify the ROM version in the OS? Should I crack it open and have a look at the chip?

Was it determined that sharing the commercial patches is an option? I'd love some extra patches, and mine came with a card that has some great sounds (T. Moebeus).

Look here to sort out which OS you have.

I figured I'd complete this story. After posting here I emailed Waldorf and they tracked down what they claimed to be the last surviving 2.0 upgrade (in their possession). They sold it to me for an extremely reasonable price. It arrived a short time ago, on the same day as the Novation Remote SL which I bought off eBay. The chips had clearly been pulled from some other synth but they worked great.

After a few days I now have a good workflow for programming the Microwave, thanks in large part to this thread.

Hurray! Thanks.

its just an eeprom. anyone with a microwave with 2.0, and access to an eeprom burner could copy this and burn it into an empty eeprom.

some guys did that in batches and then sold on bay for $20.. guess its a living
