Oh no me Voyagers buggered!

Hi

Anyone had this before where the Voyager plays the pame pitch across the entire keyboard? There is a very slight change in the filter but really the lowest note is virtually identical to the highest. It's the same for all the patches.

I have already contacted Moog to see what to do but I guess it's a service job

Sounds like the oscillators don't track the keyboard. Is it possible to do a reset? Do you have a backup of the sounds?

Hi mate

I only have 3 original patches lol so thats not too much of an issues. I have no idea if there is some secret to resetting it, there's no reset mentiond in the manual.

I knew I should have gone for the Jen SX1000 instead lol

There's some info in this thread regarding resetting a Voyager:

Moog Voyager issue - likely my error but need help finding problem

Look at post #4. What OS version are you running?

Hi Guys

Ahhh I was just looking at the thread when your email arrived, sadly resetting it does nothing.

I'll have to sit tight and see what Moog say. Thankfully it's still under warranty but it's typical it would go now when I'm right in the middle of a bloody track where it's being used for both effects and lead

Yeah that sucks! If it is urgent, I can run the tracks for you on my Voyager and record them so you get to finish your track.

is it the same if you send MIDI notes into the Voyager?
or is it just/only the keyboard?
Do other things change the pitch, like osc octave switches and osc freq knobs?

Hi Jürgen

Thanks for the offer of recording the leads for me but it was a bit of an improv and I haven't really decided on a lead line yet.

Hi Controlvoltage

Yeah playing the keyboard or via midi it makes no dofference. There is no change in pitch, it's the same note across the board with the filter opening slightly between the lowest note and the highest. All the knobs/switches appear to work just fine.

Although it's under warranty I dread to think what it'll cost to send it back and insure it for it's full worth. Never had a problem ever with me digitals synths ermm touch wood

Oh I managed to do a sysex backup of bank G to Cubase 3 but I don't know if it's worked or not. Does anyone know if this look like a typical systex dump?

Dude if it were me I would open it up real carefully so moog doesn't find out (shhh controlvoltage!) and just check the ribbon connectors, disconnect and reconnect them. If that didn't fix it I would carefully, whilest holding my breath, put that mother back together and send it to moog, Shhhh!

Lol thanks Golden but I have a 4 year warranty on it so as tempting as it is to do that I'll not risk it!

For anyone interested, I finally got it back yesterday.

Personally I think a 6 week turn around is pretty disappointing but there you go. Wasn't really the repair companies fault as they were waiting on spares to arrive from Moog.

Top marks to DV247 (Digital Village) here in the UK though for excellent customer support and a free 4 year warranty, nice one thumbsup
