Thread Starter | A couple Spectralis 2 Questions
I have a lead on a Spectralis 2 for $1500 CAD (about 1450 US). I think this is a pretty good deal. Should I buy a Spectralis if I don't really need the sequencer? Will it still be useful? Does the Spectralis have much in the way of arpegiators similar to the Virus TI? Thank you! |

I would say yes, it's totaly worth it at that price! I've had my Spectralis 2 since last weekend and I've just played with the synths, not started programming the sequencer yet. You get 1 'analog' synth (actualy only the filters are analog, 24 LP + multimode filter), 3 D-synths (using samples and digital multimode filters) and 11 rythm sounds (also samples). The 'analog' synth is mono, the rest is 32-voice polyphonic. The sound is very warm, but still detailed, even from the sampled synths that use the digital filters. The arp has far less features than the Virus Ti, no patterns, no chords play, just a plain simple arp. The big feature it has over the Virus, is the sequencer, especialy the 'analog' synth can be used with a step-sequencer, modulating each step in various ways. Try to listen to some sound examples first on the Radikal website before you decide. Peter.

Thank you for the reply. Your opinions are appreciated. I feel the unit is a great deal but I already have other synths so am on the fence with this one. I'll need to decide soon if I should pull the trigger or not so any feedback is welcomed. Others? |

It is one of the more difficult interfaces to navigate namely there aren't a lot of tutorials around and the manual is a little bit difficult. Those are the downsides.. along with the fact that the LFO isn't syncable at this point. However the new release of the accelerator is bringing syncable LFO's and other effects that they are looking at translating into the spectralis this is would be very cool, that and realtime knob recording. The sound though is unparalleled by most anything else that I have though so I definitely keep it for that reason alone. It's not always easy to get into what I'm doing but at the same time its a very complete box. You can do whole songs on it the same way one can with an MPC. The low end and mids on this thing are punchy as hell. |
