adding a voyager RME

As it stand right now my current set up consists of:

-Live
-an array of soft synths and effects
-m audio axiom 49 controller
-prophet 08 PE rack
-EMU 1212M interface
-HS 80 monitors

Combining my p08 with my soft synths I have digital, VA and poly analog covered pretty well, but I feel the p08 is weak outside of polyphonic sound. So that being said I have decided to purchase a voyager RME.

For those who are not familiar with the 1212m it has 1 pair of audio outs/ 1 pair of audio ins, digital in/out, and midi.

My question is will I have to switch the cables between the p08 and the voyager everytime I want to use one or the other or is there some sort of way to connect them sitamulously?

Well you, could hook the Prophet and the Voyager up to a mixer and record that way. Alternatively, the 1212m has an ADAT I/O, so you could get a converter to expand the number of inputs in use.

Not very slutty, but also not many people will say anything bad about them!

i think he is recomending that unit , the behringer ada8000 adat pre

the mic preamps are bad but the converters are pretty good and you don't need the mic pre's anyway

approx 300$ us

alternatively you could get a mixer

I used to have four of these hooked up to a Presonus Lightpipe Doodlebobber. Like tvsky said, the preamps suck horribly, but shootouts have been done in regards to the conversion, and many people preferred this to a Lynx Aurora.

They run about $300 new, but you can get them for a fair price used on eBay (one of the few Behringer products I've used that tend to last long enough to be worth buying used.)

Wow... that Behringer converter box looks like a must buy for me. I never thought I'd say that about anything Behringer. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Doing some research, it looks like it's a total ripoff of RME converters. $200? Nice. Stupid cheap. I just wish it didn't have pres or individual analog outs and that all the I/O was on the back. It's quite an ugly thing...
