Teen Daze - Side-chaining Compression?

Hey guys...

Check out this track by the band Teen Daze called "Shine On, You Crazy White Cap". At about :40 the track kicks in with a constact kick and pad that has this sucking in and out feel to it.

I think I understand this is due to a side-chain compression that uses the kick for a source or something? If that is indeed the case how do you execute that? I use Cubase and use the Waves CLA compressors....

on the channel with your pad, open the cubase compressor
next to the R and W buttons is an 'activate side chain' button. click that

go to your kicks channel
click on an empty 'sends' slot, select the compressor as your output.

done.

adjust the compressor to taste.

that's the easy way.
