That is really awesome.... I love it.

I've got a big place in my heart for vintage nintendo stuff. I used to work there when I was 16 building the Play Choice game cabinets. I had Nintendo stuff coming out of my ears.

Very cool idea with the yellow blocks.

Seriously what kind of material did you swap on the pads and could you tell how you did it ? I have found the pads not very responsive too... thanks !

you are gonna be glad u came in this thread! it's real easy. I actually bought some stuff called "corx" from mpcstuff.com for the pads because I was switching to another color, but there is a method to improve the pads 199% free in your home.

YouTube search for "akai mpk49 pad upgrade" and there is a tutorial there that explains how to apply black tape to the back of your existing pads. it's real easy and same results. sorry can't post links I'm on my iPhone

I've been tempted to buy a replacement cover from mpcstuff.com and get it painted or treated to match the metallic look of my macbook pro. But then I would somehow need to get the akai mpk logo and line art on the faders re-done on the new metallic cover, everything else i can live without

Looks nice! I been thinking of using style flip on my mopho keyboard and then painting the yellow to something else. I don't want to cover up the writing below each knob though... Maybe I can add the knob labels to the style flip design...?

Looks cool. Quick question for you, does the decal/skin cover the back of the keyboard where the connectors are? I am wanting something that will go over the Akai logo and the whole part of the board facing the crowd as well as the top surface facing me... Why advertise for Akai when you can advertise your own act, I'm thinking.

the styleflip people include all original knob information and labels so you won't be missing anything! you can see in my picture i chose red and blue on my labels to match mario's favorite rave apparel

Yes it covers that too. I actually have my nickname where "akai" use to be. It says "MIGGZ" (for miguel) covering the entire back.

But I also threw a little 'akai' on the side

and fyi for everyone: its not a total breeze to put on, you just have to be patient and accurate. but its not really hard either. they include directions that are pretty helpful

Looks cool! If it's not too much trouble, i'd love to see the back side where the inputs and outputs are.

Was it easy to get your new text centered on style flip, because there doesn't seem to be any lines or anything to show exactly where the edge is located between the top and the back sides on the flash designer image.

Cheers.
