Roland 100M TROUBLE!!!!!!

So today I was in choir class and I noticed that there was a 100m modular synth just chillin in the corner. Needless to say, I was extremely interested in the beast. So I went to talk to my teacher, wondering if she'd let me play with it. She did better, SHE GAVE IT TO ME!!!!!!!

****YESSSSSS

There are two cases with about 7 modules in each, but this is not why I'm posting today.

to connect the cases to one another I need to use each of the cases expander ports, but one of the cases has a broken expander port!!!! I'm almost upset about this, but I'm willing to invest in the beast if I can fix the problem. Does anyone know how I would go about fixing this problem!?
Without a fix I can't play! :(

Thanks ahead

You don´t want that old crap. I can trade you a more modern synthesizer.

Korg M1 is what you want. It is very analog and fat.

It even has a display !!

I had a 100M, but I can't remember the connection details.
Can you power up both cabinets and contained modules with their own mains plugs?
If you can power up both cabs, using the system is a doddle.
It's a modular system, so you need lots of mini-jack leads.
The system is conveniently internally connected, but as long as each module receives power you can use it as a conventional modular.
BTW, very nice system!

i presume you're talking about standard 191J cases for the 100m ? they house five modules. If so you don't need to have the cases interconnected with the din cable - it just makes a few things more simple.

The Din Cable sends CV and Gate from the keyboard to the modules that commonly use these signals but you can still patch all of the stuff from the front using standard mono mini jacks. If you have a Roland 181 keyboard designed to go with the 100m racks then this would be perfect for using the din connector to one of the racks... but hear again not essential by any means as all of the outputs are available via jack points.

What modules do you have in your system

Many congrats on your wonder windfall !

if it's just a standard din connector, then it shouldn't really be that hard to just replace it.

STOP dreaming fellow....get a life...
I have 4 x D Sets 100M...and I have never seen a 100M with 7 modules per case... you morons!
BTW The 112 has two Oscillators, that's two modules in one unit. And other units like the 150 has even four. Therefore about 7 modules per case (3 or 5 units) is a possibility. Understanding modulars is a biatch!

Seriously. It's like reading stories of people picking up Model Ds for $150 from a yard sale… guess that was more common in '91.

Erm, Dude, did you get too much caffeine this morning or are you naturally wound up a little too tight ? There are plenty of regulars here who have lots of 100m and are well aware of the facts. No need to be abusive especially if you want to make friends and possibly sell stuff on this board.

Take a chill pill and don't take things so personally !

see your quote "There are two cases with 7 modules in each..."

A Roland 100M consists either of 191J cases (5 modules) or 3 modules case....but never ever 7...
Wow. Forum rage at full tilt.

The OP could be counting 2 sections per physical 'module', plus the bottom PSU / mults, so that is (3x2) + 1 = 7.
