YouTube - AIR - Sexy Boy (LIVE@KCRW March 29, 2010) HD
No joke he sounds like that,no vocoder. I do hear some AM so a Leslie isn't a bad guess.

If my memory serves me right, Roland VP-330 was mentioned on a Future Music article back when Moon Safari was just released.

It may be it's not on "Sexy boy", but it was definitely used on the other tracks.

Good sound and but I hate to be negative, but I love this album and it's the only track I never play! Just me?

Intro is a little annoying compared to the relax vibe of the other tracks.
Chorus is very nice though....

I love lots EDM and Synth-Pop, I also listen to AIR quite exclusively as they are one of my favorite bands. All their releases are quite extraordinary. They are one of the bands that have given my synths a whole new meaning.

Yeah this is a FM interview with full kit list if you can track it down.

We have four of them: one from Germany, one we picked up second-hand in Pigalle... But we can't tell you what they are, it's secret! If you find one that we've got, maybe you'd be able to make a record like Air

Sexy Boy is my least favorite track on the album.I skip it most of the time.I guess its the track that made the album a good seller.I'm straight so maybe hearing Sexy Boy repeating over and over is unsettling for me.The rest of the album is great!jd

I never play Sexy Boy either. Just don't like that track.
I remember when i didnt really know air but just had listened to some of their tracks i was pretty sure they used the same female vocalist on alot of track. It was Jean-BenoƮt Dunckel vocals of course. hes got such an androgynous voice.

you could have taken the words out of my mouth - and if your initials are JD, that's even more unsettling as they're mine also. Clone alert!

One of my all time favourite albums.... that song though.....

funny enough, I think "sexy boy" is a great pop song, and it still has nothing to do with the fact I'm gay (lyrics have never been their strong point, to be honest...)

Late chip-in on this conversation... but since it has just been bumped...

My fave track on there by far is All I Need. Takes me straight back to '98.

I saw them live at the time and the vocoder was a VP-330. As far as straight people listening to sexy boy... Who cares? The song won't make you gay.

That's the track (and awesome video) that made me buy the album.
Little did I know when picking it up it would become one of my biggest influences ever album wise.

It probably helped that the night I bought it I took the third best acid I've ever had. I pretty much just sat on the floor next to the stereo with Moon Safari on repeat for aprox. 10 hours.

Two of my favorite bands had male singers that sang in a falsetto or sounded like a girl.

Russel Mael of Sparks (just the UK albums were good)

Green Garthside of Scritti Politti who is a 6'6" Welshman who is married with kids.
