Thread Starter | Akai MPK & Cubase
Hey Folks Just got myself an Akai MPK25 and just trying to work my way through the control section to make it work with Cubase 5 on Mac. I have the dials sorted out and have them control some of the volume/pan parameters for my workflow, but cannot seem to get the Transport controls to lock in at all. Can someone please advise the process? Thanks |

ok, so just received my mpk61 and am attempting to setup the controls in Cubase 6. I followed the following instructions: "1) go to (on the menu in Cuebase) DEVICES > DEVICE SETUP 2) Click on the Remote Devices Folder then click on the plus symbol on the top let hand corner to create a new Generic Remote 3)Click on “Import†in the right side of the generic remote window 4)Select the “Cubaseâ€.html preset on the MPK disc …. yer not done yet 5)Change the midi channel on “stop, rec, play, rw, ff†from channel 2 to channel one." Afterwards, export the (XML?) file and then reload later, otherwise cubase rests the channel to This seems to get the knobs/faders/buttons working, but that section on the transport control eludes me. In Cubase 6, is there a separate section for changing the transport remote controls? I don't see any options to select a midi channel for them. On the keyboard, rew/ff/stop/play/rec is registering as 'ctrl 115' to 'ctrl 119' or thereabouts. If anyone can help, I'd be quite thankful. While I'm at it, what is the latest firmware for the mpk61? Mine shipped with 1.01. Getting registered with the vyzor website is like trying to access the pentagon. WTH are they hiding in there? (Edit: I DLed an XML file from the same thread and it seems to work fine: http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtop...401ea752fcb416 Only change I would make is that the 'F' buttons are solo and not mute per track.

I find most of the time when the transport buttons aren't working in a specific program it's an MMC problem. Click on one of the transport buttons, then click edit, then press enter, and change it from MMC to MIDI, then MIDI map the transport controls to your DAWs transport buttons. if that doesn't work, find a new hobby like bird watching, nobody listens to music now-a-days anyway. |

Here's a link to a thread with an xml which doesn't require that cubase be in 'external sync' mode or "T", which makes you press record, then play. Cubase.net .:::. View topic - mpk49 transport controls not working in c5... Not sure why I can't get the first xml working without external sync being enabled, but in any case, here's the alternative that works without it. Just copy the text, rename the file as .xml and import into your generic remote devices. |
