Korg DDD-1 owners take a look at this!!!

Found this place that produces custom pcb cards for the expansion slots on the DDD-1 and DDD-5. They also produce various ROM sound chips

TR808/TR909, Analogue Percussion, Simmons, CR78 etc etc

The great thing is, (as you can get these sounds on most up-to-date Boss machines), is that they use the DDD-1's tune/decay features and are polyphonic. Also the individual outputs make things easy too.

Theres some sound demos on the left hand side of the page.

korg DDDmods* frontpage

Price isn't too bad either.

I like this. I'm a fan of the DDD-1. It would be cool to have a Linn LM1 sound set.

I almost scored one for $65, but I could barely read the only pdf manual on the web (That was baaaadly a photocopy of a photocopy), and I thought it might be too old and too hard to come across the accessories. If I knew what I know now, I would have grabbed it. Well, maybe when I'm in the market for a old school 80's drum machine.

It would be great if they did a Mini Pops-7 rom.

Seeing as the DDD-1 has 4 slots, you could have velocity sensitive, individual output, tune/decay TR-808, TR-909, Analogue Percussion and Minipops 7 all at the same time.

hmmm...

I'm dissapointed they actually made the 808/909 cards and not something less common. Does the world really need more 808/909 samples ?

yeah, i know what you mean, they've been promising more exciting kits for some time now, here's the list they reckon will be available in 2011

Beat-box (a selection of analogue percussion sounds)

Analogue Percussion vol 2

TR 606 Cymbals

LATIN PERCUSSION

ETHNIC PERCUSSION

JAPANESE PERCUSSION

BASS (selection of bass sounds)

Strings, Brass and ORGAN

synths ( a selection of short synth sounds, ideal for sequencing)

SIMMONS SDS V KIT Vol1 (Featuring real sounds from SDS five module, not from a sample cd)

SIMMONS SDS V KIT Vol2 (Featuring real sounds from SDS five module, not from a sample cd)

Drum and Bass (old skool drums,Kick and snare with an synth bass sound(sampled from a SH101)

but they seem to make new ROM chips so slowly and in very small numbers. I guess they aren't doing them in-house and so have production gaps....

The sequencer is archaic and crap to use. However it sounds cool, is cheap and has individual outs. If you can get one, you can also use an Electribe (or any other groove box) to sequence it.

Didn't know you had one metro! Real time is ok, but step is a little tedious.

I'm slaving mine to 707. Bring on the Minipops 7 card. thumbsup

ohhh heck yea. It's so full of odd character, I love it. I wouldn't mind a 727 either.
