Anyways, I've actually heard that Skrillex actually uses FM8 for those sounds. One of the earliest versions of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites was actually titled FM8.
are you talking about the bass? the lead is from that track is a preset in ReFx Nexus, anyway i can't stand Skrillex (and brostep in general) but as far as emulating that wobble you're pretty much spot on, nice work!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "wet" in the context of your edit, but I was talking about the kind of "bubbling," "watery" sound going on in the upper frequencies that can result from cranking filter resonance. It could also be the wavetable, in which case you just have to filter or eq it to taste.

It's not a problem if you like it, of course, but I haven't really heard that sound in Skrillex's music, and since this is a thread about getting close to Skrillex, I figured I should mention it

yeah by wet i meant the bubblyness to it

Have you got any tips for eqing? I use ableton and i add a really tight 15db boost and scan frequencies till it makes something weird then i notch it out but then i noticed it always has a slight weirdness to it anyway so i end up equing the shit out of it and then im confused as to what im really doing i did that technique for this bass here and im not sure if i removed too much of the sound or if it sounds alright

(its a attempt at a 16bit style fat bass)

Also thanks for the feedback never really got feedback before :P usually keep all this stuff to myself

The best advice I can give you is "use your ears." Really, as long as it sounds good, it is good.

That said, as a rule of thumb for a beginner, you should always try cutting before boosting, and you should never go more than +- 6dB in either direction. If you need more than that, 99% of the time it means you need to re-examine your sound source.
