Any tips on reducing cpu usage?

I'am trying to run Cubase, Reaktor, and Reason all at once. Anyone got any advice to reduce cpu in any of these softwares?

Freeze tracks (this means that they are rendered to audio but you always get the chance to go back to correct notes by "thawing" them) when you can and start saving up for a more powerful computer.

How do you freeze a track in cubase?

I've been boucning my vst tracks from reaktor to wav files and then bringing them back into cubase. But after I do that I can't edit anymore.

Beside the name of the VST plugin (in the plugins window, where you load them up - F11 I think) there's a little icicle icon. Click that.

Also, you should make sure that you disable any backgroubd applications that might be running that aren't needed. I always make 2 partitions on my PC, and install Windows to both - one for general use, and one purely for music production, in which I strip out EVERYTHING that's not needed.

I think there is also an option in reason to choose the amount of CPU the programs uses. You can try lowering it and let the other programs use more CPU and vica versa. You also can choose through task manager which programs have hi and low priority.

If using a multicore be careful of using sends. Things sent to the same send have to run on the same processor AFAIK.
