Pick a Skrillex track. Load Wav to DAW. Transcribe to MIDI by hand. Assign MIDI to Dubstep presets. Add +10DB of limiting and Sonnox Inflator to every sound. Chop and stutter-effect to taste. Hey presto.
Every time deadmau5 or skrillex put out a new track or album I head straight to my holocaust shelter and await the world's end. But it never happens for some reason and people just continue to go about their lives. So weird.

Is deadmau5 that bad? I've listened to "For Lack of a Better Name" and although I liked a couple of tracks can't say it's something special?

Interesting, you are quoting producers that actually have done something interesting and new in EDM. Wonder what you would then think if you heard the typical top-20 in Beatport let's say the electro house section just now, maybe your brain would implode?

Haha. I guess my sarcasm was missed there. I have lots of love for both those guys. Sonny is a fcking hard worker and deserves everything he has made for himself. I hung out in the booth with his tour manager and the stage manager while he smashed a sold out festival a year ago. I like the rowdy fun of his sets. Probably because I like rowdy and I like fun. It's not music for the toe tapping deep house guys that's for sure.
As for mau5, anyone who thinks the guy hasn't done some brilliant electronic compositions isn't too in tune with his work. I could never write a track like Strobe. You don't hear tracks like that from the other guys.
South park were right all along, can't remember the episode now but it sounds the same....
That was a funny episode. Actually, in my opinion, I think that fartstep song is genius. Farts are funny. However, the guy that recorded that may want to make a visit to the doctor.

Art evolves. Nobody invents anything. Occasionally, new things are accidentally discovered and incorporated into existing ideas. Whether those new things are good or bad is simply a matter of opinion.
"..whatever... everybody, [makes disparaging gesture, signifying that 'everybody' means 'anybody who is nobody']... they can post a "record" and they let the whole world know they exist ".
Interesting.
So, the thousands posting EDM demos on youtube are basically performing the contemporary equivalent of...
... staging a suicide in the '90s, or escaping from parents' home in the 50s or 60s?
About the other video:
I think people will eventually get bored with repetitive mainstream music. Disco and punk died off from the mainstream, and then came back. Cultural art styles come and go, while slowly evolving into new things at the same time. Does this make sense? As for talent, that is left to listener. I appreciate certain classical music as much as certain punk rock. For myself, is one really any more talented than the other? I don't know. I just like it.
I can understand the frustration of people trying to make a living from music. In order to maintain that lifestyle/career, the artist needs to change to what people want to pay for. It definitely has to be a tough thing for an artist to come terms with. I think the best thing to do is just make music for television, video games and film, but I don't know, I am not a professional.
Some guy saying everyone thinks they can write a book... And, guess what he's wrote a book...
And was that moby? I jst got a new promo he featured on and I thought his mix, track, what ever, was pretty mediocre.
Maybe Moby is just a frustrated artist that has been struggling with making money by not "selling out". That is a strong maybe, i don't know the guy. He chose his career. Maybe he should just "swallow his pride" (makes think of the Ramones song) and make dubstep. But then people would just call him a copy cat and his faithful fans would turn on him. Oh the struggles of being an artist. I learned some time ago that if I ever made some decent money on music, I would invest it. Can't rely on the arts for support. But I've never made a dime on music, so I know nothing about what it is really like.
