Moog Voyager "performer edition" vs. other additions?

I know this should be obvious, but I keep looking over the moogmusic website and can't find a clear answer -- what, exactly, is the difference between the minimoog voyager "performer edition" and the select series / electric blue, other than color? The price difference is a few hundred dollars, so I imagine there's got to be something, or is it purely cosmetic?

thanks,
-M

oh, figured it out -- so you pay 300 bucks more for backlight and color choice (or in the case of the electric blue, 300 bucks more for backlight and no color choice..)

My Signature Edition sounds better, but that's just my opinion Plus no annoying backlight to make it buzz/hum.

(actually in all seriousness, my friend has an electric blue one, and I do think mine sounds different and the keyboard feels smoother)

The buzz/hum on my EB is gone since the Quiet II upgrades, before my upgrade it drove me nuts... don't know about the Signature Edition though, I do know Moog used two keyboards so far.

Cheers

The analog synth engine is the same in all of them.

My SS is very quiet. I hear no hum, also the keyboard got replaced as mine was faulty. So its very smooth now. I would think if there was any difference at all it would be between the OS and any of the other versions.

You pay so you can use it poor lighting situations. The SS is visually inspiring to look at and use. No audio/feature differences though.

If you go back to the Signature Edition you had fewer memory banks, though you can still get an upgrade. The earlier Performer series when first sold years ago had fewer memories compared to today.

As suspected, the various editions and price differences just involve wood and lighting.

The operating system can be updated via MIDI so there aren't any OS changes that require service. Earlier units had poor aftertouch generation from the keyboard and can be upgraded.

Obviously the Old School and new XL unit have substantially different hardware, but not the other editions.

Actually if you got one that came from the factory with an OS less than 3.0, it needs to be hardware updated before you can upgrade to 3.0 or higher.

As everyone's pointed out- there is no real difference between them. Its just cosmetic.

Imma let you finish, but the Signature Ed had the best style of all time!

(actually, you're probably right, but I do love mine much).
