Dave Smith Instruments patches USER-LIBRARY thread

This is a thread in which to share your patches for DSI synths...

It has been discussed in a few threads recently how there is currently nowhere on the net where users can upload & share patches... so hopefully this can become that place.

As far as I'm aware, (aside from obvious hardware limitations) the patches for the Tetra, Prophet 08 & Mopho are interchangeable.
I know there are many users of all of those units here, so potentially we can build up a nice resource.

The original suggestion was for this thread to be just about the aforementioned synths... but since I doubt there is a place for Evolver patches either, users of those might as well get in on the action here too.

...Please begin your post with the type of synth used to design the patches in SIZE 4 BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS so it's clear what devices they can be used on.
...Then state if the posted material is a single program, combo program, or program bank.
...Then a brief description of what type of sound is... ie 'Pad'/'Bass' etc

Also specify what format the patches are in... ideally as many formats as possible.
(My Tetra Editor seems to create both sysex & proprietary .t4p files, so I'm going to share both for every patch.)

Drop your patches into a folder, compress that folder to .Zip format, then upload to the post as an attachment.

If at all possible, try to also provide an mp3 demo so people can hear what the patches sound like before downloading. Attach this SEPERATELY from your .zip of patches so that it will stream within the post.
Alternately, embed soundcloud or youtube links.
... Audio demo's are not ESSENTIAL though... if you already have a load of patches, but can't be bothered to make demos, go ahead & share them anyway!

Please try to avoid chatter, and only post with patches- if all goes well this could grow to become a big thread, so with discussion as well it could become unnavigable.

EDIT: Any discussion about patches posted here, anything related to this thread, PLUS general discussion on sound design in DSI synths, please post into the thread here:
Discussion re 'Dave Smith Instruments USER LIBRARY thread' PLUS tips on patch design
.... so that we can keep this 'user library' thread uncluttered.

TETRA - Single Program - Tech House/Techno style keys & bass

Dark tech house stabby keys intended to be triggered with a chord.
Designed so that with the filter cut-off closed, the sound is pretty staccato/punchy/tight... then as the cut-off rises the sound swells in length too... for dramatic build ups with just one knob.

Accompanying bass. A little bit dirty.

Patches are in both .syx & .t4p format.

Neither patch has anything special on the 'assignable parameters'... pretty basic... but these are my first efforts on the Tetra... deeper programmed stuff will hopefully follow shortly

TETRA - Single Program - Deep Bass

Brownmeister
- It's about as simple as they come, 1 osc mono setting triangle wave, a little glide, little res, low 4 pole LPF, attack is slow, sustain is long, a little release.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - Juicy Bass/Lead

Sloppy Joe's
- Uses dual layering, lots of pitch variation themes to get that intangible analog drifty pitch-smear sound we've been talking about a bit. It uses noise as a mod source, random LFO as a mod source, osc slop at max, and of some slight osc detune.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Combo Program - Keys

Watercoloring - Wants to be that ubiquitous Boards of Canada sound, loads of smear and noise. Uses 4 variations of a rhodes-sounding poly patch I made called "Watercolors", based on a single saw/tri mix osc and many of the same osc techniques as described in the Sloppy Joe's patch. I'm really happy with how this one turned out, it's a blast to play.

-- -- -- -- --

I'll do some aggro stuff later.

Hey,

Thanks for the compliment on the patch. Glad that people are finding this thread useful already.

I don't want to come down all on you... but my hope is to avoid general chat in this thread & only post with patches; I'm hoping that ultimately many people from around t'interwebs will come here, share patches, and make this grow into a big thread with loads of patches... so if we had general comments too it could potentially become an unnavigable 3000 page mess!

However, I totally empathise with your posting as I really want to rave about how amazing the patches Ctrlshft posted are.... so, I just created a second thread for discussion, to run concurrently to this thread:

Prophet 08

This is a rendition of one of the sounds that characterises the sound of the CS80 for me.. IT was used a lot by Vangelis on albums like Short Stories, Opera Sauvage, etc.

TETRA - Single Program - Lead/Juicy Bastard

Skullgun_Popcorn
- 2 osc, short decay, heavy on the filter env, tons and tons of modulation. USE THE MOD WHEEL! A little Diamond Age reference for context.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - Unison Bass/Lead

Exterminator
- Uses dual layering, Unison3, tons of PWM, tons of filter modulation. Big fat unison bass.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - SFX

Lightcycle - Lots of hard sync modulation, dual layered and full unison, play with mod wheel and pitch bend to drive the light cycle!

TETRA - Single Program - Kick drums

TETRA - Single Program - Lead Sound

IronLead
- A ringing Lead with a lot of Resonance. A Square synced with a Saw/Triangle. PW-Modulation and Glide! It's actually a modulated Patch from one of the Standard-Banks.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - Lead Sound

GrittyLead
- Two synced Sawwaves, Unison and Filtermodulation. USE THE MOD WHEEL TO SPEED THE MODULATION UP OR SLOW IT DOWN!

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - Unison Bass/Lead

GrittySaw - A quite simple but nasty Sawsound. Actually 2 synced Saws with a bit of Feedback, Resonance, Unison, Pitchshift and a lot of Audio Mod.

-- -- -- -- --

TETRA - Single Program - Unison Bass/Deep Bass

Rounder - 2 synced Squarewaves, Unison, 4-Pole Filter, Resonance and some nice Filtermovement. USE THE MOD WHEEL TO OPEN THAT BASTARD! I prefer the deep closed Filtersound.

TETRA - Single Program - Keys

Unstable keys with slow filter attack. Original intention is to trigger from arpeggiator pattern within a DAW (no arp set up in the patch.) as I have done in the demo attached.

Inspired by early 80's science documentary soundtracks.

Format .syx & .t4p

TETRA -Single Program - Drift

"Vintage" pad sound that uses all four LFO's to create tuning instability. More velocity = more detuning!

Format is .syx and .t4p

TETRA -Single Program - Vibes

Uses Filter FM to create a bell like sound. Mod wheel sets the rate of stereo panning for a leslie speaker style effect. Velocity is mapped to audio mod parameter.

Format is .syx and .t4p

Prophet '08 single program // Sequence-Percussive

CB NIN Sequence

I took one of the factory programs and twisted it when I first got the synth in, in a semi-Reznor fashion.

---------------------------------

Prophet '08 dual-layer program // Arpeggio

CB Dr3am Arp

Nice dreamy old-progressive-era arpeggio. Mod wheel routed to achieve stacatto effects for dramaticisation when combined with tweaking the feedback on an external delay unit.

---------------------------------

Prophet '08 single program // FX-Experimental

CB Paq Attack

Some stuff more on the wild side! Play chords for more artifacts. Tweak LFO 1's Freq and the filter cutoff for some craziness.

---------------------------------

Prophet '08 single program // Pad

CB Jam Session

Another one I made when I first got it. Long sweeps on chords and great as a lead. It is titled so because that's what I'd load up first when people would wanna come by and jam.

---------------------------------

Prophet '08 single program // FX-Freq.Mod-Textures

CB LFO DX-7 FM

This is a cool attempt at FM in the P'08. It sounds sick, but only 'somewhat' tracks to pitch. I have an LFO set to audio range doing the modulating, with keynumber set to the LFO's Freq for keytracking. Thanks to Chysn for this technique!

PROPHET 8, Exode's patches

I just wanted to point to Exodes banks on the DSI forum:
DSI / Prophet Forum :: View topic - Two banks (256 patches) for the Prophet'08
(Log in to see attachments..)

There's some really good stuff in there.
I thought of a Faithless track when I heard the Brassy Saw patch, I forget the title of the track, played quick from memory, TC verb, recorded mono.

Salad Tosser

MOPHO or TETRA

Made this while trying to mess around with filter modulation at audio rate. Just a cool (imo) fx sweep. The patch was created while in polychain mode with a Mopho Keyboard -> Tetra setup. The Tetra patch is 4 voice unison and the Mopho is obviously single voiced but you still get the idea. The Mp3 preview is ok, sounds better coming out of the synth but you knew that already...

Oh! And this doesn't sound the same on all keys... I like G1 I think, and maybe B4... Not sure what keys they were but it sweeps differently up and down the keyboard.. I think if you're using the single voice patch you should transpose up 2 octaves and hit that B.

What are you guys using to load the patches? I'm using the mopho pro and lite editor and the patches will not load into the mopho! I've tried via maschine, an ak1 and an A-300 pro midi controller so i think it's the editors. Or the mopho. Just want to try something that's known to work before contacting dsi. Cheers!

TETRA -Single Program - filter sweep strings

Rich strings. Filter opens subtly over a 2-bar long (~house tempo!) sustained chord (from midi).

This mp3 demo has been high-pass filtered to thin it out so it can fit into my current track. Just some random chords... not the ones from my current track. Worked the filter cut-off & resonance a little as I recorded this demo.

I'm wondering how you might set the 4 lfo to sweep out of tune gently to simulate Vco further then using the slop function alone which I love but wish it could be more extremely set

Also psalm37 sells sounds he has a great demo on YouTube
