Thread Starter | Pop music sweeps, synth swells in pop tracks
Hey ya. So I am doing pop music (ala Britney, Ke$ha, Katy ect...) and I've been looking for the best and easiest way to create these big sweeps and synth swells into and out of choruses (transitions.) you hear this a ton in Dr. Luke/Max Martin style production. I have been successful in automating soft synths to open and close filters ect, freq sweep and all that. But I have heard so many of these sweeps, all so different, I feel like there is a soft instrument that may be out there to do this in a more robust way. Are they using a box for this, or analog synths? A Kaos box maybe? Please let me know if you have any thoughts you mad geniuses you. BTW I'm in Logic Pro. Thanks! |

Try layering that sweep with a reversed reverb (take audio file, reverse it, apply reverb, reverse the result) of several instruments playing at the same time in the same key.

Ya, that would result in what I would describe as a "ghosty" swell. The swells I'm talking about are inorganic, long sweeps. There are several up and down in this tune: Ke$ha - Your Love Is My Drug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLGtc1pLWMw 4 bars before each chorus going up, 4 bars starting in the chorus going down. There's also an especially long and developing sweep in the bridge. Any thoughts? |

Noise generator with a formant/comb filter going over it. Multiple resonant peaks, spaced - controlled with a single filter cutoff. If you want to save yourself work, something like Vengeance-Music.de |

I really want Dr. Luke's transition effect that's on Kesha's stuff just so I can make a better beat and show him up.

For the sweeps, try RazorFX by primeloops and filter it up. When I saw Luke he was saying that for those fx he has a bank he created using some analog synth and detuning one of the OSC to get it wide. When he wants one he scrolls through the samples he made. | |
