Laser Harp Challenge!

so here's the Challenge:

Gearslutz, create your own laser harp sound on what ever gears you got.
post your efforts in this thread.

here's the sound in question

it doesn't have to be a copy, just an interpretation.

this thread was inspired by SonicBern's Lazer harp GAIA patch thread:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/508125-roland-gaia-sh-01-jean-michel-jarre-lazer-harp-patch.html

if you want some tips on how to build the sound, have a read of it.

Here's my effort:

Laserharp.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

Made on my Nord Lead 2x.

Edit: No effects used, and recorded directly from the NL2x into my macbook using the onboard soundcard. It sounds much better over my monitors

RendeVouz3.mp3

Laser harp from U-He Zebra2.
Don't remember the string part. Probably a sample.

EDIT: A while ago i was experimenting with cutting up longer samples into 16 single cycle samples and loaded them into Z2. The though was obviously to get a "taste" of the longer sample. This is the original Elka Synthex sound cut up into 16 pieces. The result was initially quite disappointing. Nowhere near the original. I tried with some distortion and it got a little better. I figure i just scrap the whole idea. And then i remembered the osc FX. There is a sync one (have absolutely no idea how that one works),tried and voila! There was the sound.
I didn't think it'll ever work but i could at least try it. Experimented a bit with different shapers (distortion) and maybe went a little overboard with it because i thought it sounded a lot better. You can download the preset should you want to here:

My vote goes to this guy who not only programmed the Laser Harp sound on an M3 but also built a laser harp to play it on!

We need more of these challanges. Really good for my still developing synthesis skills. I got a better result just a few minutes ago

Did you repost it at the same link above? That first one was pretty sweet already

No, I didn't want to replug all my cables again (call me lazy), but I basically just selected another filter and messed with the filter EG some more to get it closer to the original. Nothing fancy, but I liked the result better thumbsup

I'm impressed by the real laser harp video. Korg M3 sounds fantastic.

Here's my humble take. I didn't try to make a replica, rather a variation.

Made these a while ago on the Alesis Andromeda. Made a slightly improved one already, but I haven't sampled it yet.

No effects were used on these recordings.

EDIT: Sorry wav attachments failed for some reason. I'll add my contribution tomorrow, have to catch some sleep.

You need to convert them to mp3, only then they'll work in the attachment.

prolly too large. +1 on converting to mp3. if you dont have an mp3 converter, google Audacity. it's real easy to use, has the best wav to mp3 export and it's free.

stay tuned for another Pro5 harp from me. also if i've got time, i'll fire up the old K2000. !

Here are the mp3 versions. I've made one on the Blofeld as well, need to sample that one.

I'd have to check that, IIRC there is a filter sweep on it. I'll revisit the latest version I have of it and see if I can coax some more brightness out of it.
A bit ironic because the Andromeda is often thought of as bright sounding

Meh, I missed the mark totally, the other examples rock but mine is too heavy and doesn't have that bite in the attack phase. I should have used photons like others instead of going for Higgs Boson particles.

I'll try again.

no, not really. you don't have to sit there with a spectrum analyzer and try to work out the exact sound. listen to it once and come up with something, that's the idea. check out the GAIA thread, my pro5 sound is way off. i just thought it was a cool sound so i posted it.

Yeah, I didn't try to do the exact copy but I think there is a nice quality in the original sound captured by others that I missed. Here's another attempt:

What's the prize? A synthex?

Probably not a precise match but I don't have a Synthex. I didn't read any tutorial either, I just thought about mail from the bank.

Unnecessary to mention the synth. There are three takes where a certain setting is different.
