I'm not talking about sound quality, rather I'm talking in terms of sheer speed of preview. If you have a computer with online access to a bunch of albums sitting next to a stack of records containing those same albums and a turntable, which do you think is faster for previewing tracks? Records are very quick in that regard, at least from my p.o.v.

Any time you want to listen to a track online you have to find it, download at least part of it, and then press "play". If you want to skip ahead quickly, well, I haven't found an online player that really does that well yet. Plus, all of the online music stores (Amazon, iTunes, Beatport, etc) have the presentation all wrong IMO -- you have to "drill down" too much to hear any single track, and thus trying to compare a bunch of tracks from different artists is a major pain.

By comparison once a turntable is spinning all you have to do is plop on a record, drop the needle in a few places, flip it and then do the same thing on the other side. You can keep the platter spinning while you switch records, and your "random access" time is negligible. All around the process "flows" much better.

Eventually the online music marketing world will catch up, but until then vinyl is my preferred method for previewing tracks.

thats because the music on vinyl keeps you interested so you listen longer.

digital is so bad you have to listen to 100 tracks an hour to find an ok track.

The numbers were just numbers.
I've bought about 10 flac/mp3 albums in my life
But i haven't bought that much past years.
Most monney goes to gear, food and bills.
