SCI DrumTraks and MIDI

Hey everyone,

Long time since I posted anything of merit. I have a question that I believe I already know the answer to--I just need a few outside opinions.

I have a SCI DrumTraks (that I might be selling in the near future, but that's another story). Obviously, it has MIDI, and I've even hooked it up to my JX8P to play the drums through my keyboard.

My question is, is there a way to get the DrumTraks to transmit MIDI out when playing a pattern/song to a DAW, such as Logic? I've been to Wine Country's website, and maybe what I need is to upgrade the OS. But, for a moment let's assume that I don't do that... is there any way to accomplish this?

I'm not sure what version of the OS my machine has.

As always, your answers are much appreciated.

You need to figure out your current rev. This is going to sound like an advert, and maybe it is, but on my page:

.:Music Technologies Group:. - Southern California Music, MIDI and Electronics

It mentions an update. I'm not in the same place as those documents right now, so I can't say anything else meaningful at this time. I will check tonight and see if I can figure out what the update is/was.

There's a good 20 or 30 pages of documentation about the changes from 0.3 to 0.4 and 0.4 to 0.5. None of which tells how to get the version # so you'll have to open it up to look at what is written on the chip.

I opened up my Drumtraks, which was a fun little thing to do by itself--awesome metal hinge inside like a car's hood!--and here's a picture of what I found. I am assuming this means that it has version 0.4 of the OS?

Yeah, that's what it looks like. Do you have the manual that included the Sequential Drumtraks 04 features? There are quite a few "hidden" things. PM me if you think you need the update to 05 EPROM.

From the Operation Manual, Chapter 13 Hidden functions:

Enable Pads Out MIDI
Hold ENTER
Press 5

But ... I manually wrote "Press 4"
So it could be that it was either a mistake in the Manual or there was a Version change .
In any case Drumtraks could send Midi OUT independently of the Eprom version.

Best regards
