Some of Lady GaGa's songs are sick!!!

I mean really well produced and great arrangements.

And she uses the Hoover sound in some of her tunes.

Yes.

Oh, and there is no F^&^%$^ way she is a man!

I haven't listened to Lady Gaga yet, but I'll admit that some pop music has started to impress me.

....I own and thoroughly enjoy both of Justin Timberlake's albums. There it is. Deal with it. fuuck

I'm not hating the songs, I'm hating the fact that they're getting played over and over and over and over and over again.

There's a boatload of music in the back catalog waiting to be discovered. Why never play the rest of the album?

His 2nd one is among my favorite of all time. "I think she knows interlude" is the best of all time imo.

i dont think anyone can debate that this sort of music has been produced excellently, at as high a quality as is available. but if i may be so bold, please try to remember what it was like before your ears were tuned to everything going on in a song besides composition. if any of you are gonna say that these tracks are giving you the colors that make life worth continuing to live, or that you're learning meaningful values from them, or that they are vessels of emotion that help you understand and connect with the world around you any better, someone needs to take your skytower-o-crackrock away from you

Not denyig they are well written songs. i think there is a serious skill to making a pop song sound natural from a musical and lyrical point of view. And by those purposes she has succeeded.

But from a production point of view Lady Gaga is among my least favourite. I don't really like the instruments, they are generally quite bland and the mixes are really brittle sounding, very harsh. Sounds as if its been produced entirely ITB (Although I am sure this is not the case).

Thats her first album anyway.. I am sure her productions will get bigger and better. For the meantime at least, I think she is here to stay.

For me the main problem is not her music. Her image is far too calculated and comes across as being a little pretentious. There is not a smile, word, dance move, note, newspaper article that is isn't entirely premeditated. She is clearly trying to imitate Madonna, unsuccessfully. A couple of her performances on Brit Awards and a chat show over here in the UK were just embarrassing.

Rant over!

JT actually has some suprisingly good songs. Same with Lady Gaga; her stuff has some nice talent showing in her songs and she has much more depth than a lot of other pop crap out there.

I rather listen to all the undiscovered stuff out there like was mentioned earlier, but for pop, these are some of the current 'mainstream' best.

Now, any other artists making music and using Autotune that lacks the skill to make it not sound like Autotune and ends up making it the center piece in the song should be shot. Autotune is a f#c$in9 joke and it's being relied upon time after time. LAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMME!

I've seen some posts on Kessha around here, and I don't care if you inquire about what she does or how she does it, but this person is not a musician and is a f@#k!*& joke. Man, she sucks hard, it's not even funny how much her songs show her lack of skill. I think I heard say googoogaga in one of her songs.

Yeah it was even sadder to have to see Jonathan Ross back track and massively suck up to her last week, obviously the bbc forced him to, she's selling too much to be ignored. There was a thread somewhere on here recently with a few videos of her producer, I believe he said it was all Logic ITB. I say she's not just a "little" pretentious, but super pretentious. Anyway to each his own, all I get is a "GAG" reflex!

This ridiculous distinction between ITB and OTB that's often made here has far, far more to do with the choice of mixing and mastering.

Yeah, like the spiky bra wasn't embarassing. I'd say the "unsuccesfully" is unwarranted - if it wasn't, people'd be staying away, wouldn't they?

Unfortunately this has been done since forever. I used to watch MTV when they actually played music and back then you would hear NIN - Closer 5 or 6 times a day. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit used to get played about as frequently for about 2 years straight and it kept on popping up in between Korn vids when MTV2 got popular.

I like those songs too but not when its in my face all the time, every day. Other than that I think Lady GaGa is one of the best things to happen to pop music in a long time. I kind of agree that shes like a slightly more crazed mini Madonna. Lets do a checklist:

1) Great live.
2) Eccentric to the point of being scary (honestly, she is weirder than Marilyn Manson and he was kind of the musical anti establishment. Lady GaGa is the music establishment)
3) Just doesn't give a fukc.

Pop music needs more of this. And maybe a little more cowbell.

Does MTV still play music video's??? last time I turned on the TV it's all shows, they used to be cool long time ago playing a huge variety of music and have excellent animations and graphics in between now it's just blah.

I can't stand any of the Gaga and other stuff alike, not that it lacks writing or production but it just kills my soul, mind & ears.

MTV Drops "Music Television" From Logo | News Article | Tiny Mix Tapes

And I agree. This Gaga business does nothing for me. But then I was never a big pop fan. Didn't like Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys either.

I'll leave the tastes of 12 year old girls up to the 12 year old girls.

fuse tv had a segment where they played every lady gaga video back to back.

enjoyed it. I originally thought her lyrics were simple, but then I realized they were made for export...I think. Bad romance, for example, is a phrase that just about every european can say and understand, even the ones that don't know english (!!! !!! ).

still, no replacement for the originals

I have thought that for a while. If Marilyn Manson and madonna had a love child........

It would be Lady Ga Ga!

I wonder what her response would be if you asked her what 'the hoover sound' is.?

she's done really well and is the first to admit her success is down to tireless self promotion.

her music isn't her music. she's the front man as it were.

the music is made for and with her, not by her. obvious i know but i feel that i should point this out.

tell us how you really feel!

Lady Gaga made me realize it is an American civic duty to plant our cultural flag in all locations across the globe, stamping out local art with our own twisted brand. So I say rock on lady gaga--bring our evil to the international, unwashed masses! thumbsupthumbsup

I am not a producer I am a musician so I dont care for production quality. Actually I am anti-audiophile . Personally its the last thing I notice on a track.

I hate to admit it, but she is just another "fast food " music industry product.

Respect to all the peopel who like this kind of stuff though.
