Valuation of Juno2 and MKS-70 with programmers

Hello good people,

since I now have JPs 4 and 8, I'm going to sell these Roland DCOs with their respective programmers (PG300 and PG800). While they are both great synths, I'm not comfortable with the filter and space is scarce. I don't like the idea of instruments rotting in the basement, there are enough there already awaiting better times and more space.

In your minds and markets, what are these instruments worth with the programmers?

Both are now somewhat broken, should I bother to spend money on repair or just sell them broken for the buyer to fix? The Juno2 has minor issues while MKS-70 probably needs a display change.

Why don't you just check eBay auctions that have ended. And I would fix 'em before you sell, most people don't want to deal with broken stuff. Unless of course you are willing to let them go super-cheap.

Everyone is complaining how expensive vintage synths are on Ebay and the first advice is to follow that developement

I said in your minds too, not only markets.

Final auctions that have ended are what people are willing to pay. If you want to take less than that based on peoples' personal opinions be my guest!

Fine. Is there any smart way to check past sales on Ebay?

You have to log-in to your eBay account to see how auctions have ended. So do that first, then you should be able to simply look up your items and check the "past auctions" to see what they sold for. Probably not as many selling combos with the programmers, so look them up separately too and figure that if you sell the programmer with the instrument you will probably have to take a bit less for it when valuing the package. And again, if your stuff has issues then you may as well just start the auction at $1 and let people bid what they think it's worth given that you have described in great detail what's wrong. Good luck!

I think you can only check "completed listings" if you have a sellers account. At least I couldn't do as you described before I started to sell.

Is one sale enough to affect the account?

Although I'm not exactly sure why (rarity?) PG-800s generally sell for more than an MKS-70 would sell for.

I've seen MKS-70s sell for anywhere between for $250 and $400 US. I've seen PG-800s sell for $350 to $500.

Together, with a bad display you could try to get someone to shell out big bucks and offer them up for $600-$700 but you would probably get it sold quicker for around $450-$550. Then again, I've seen PG-800s sell in that range.

I've been looking for a PG-800 for a long time but I refuse to pay the prices people are asking. You may want to split them up as the PG-800 seems to be in demand more than the MKS-70.

About the other synth, I have no ideal.

Hate to hack your post but I also have an Mks-70 with the display GOING BAD. It flickers sometimes. Just a mater of time now...

Bought it used off ebay in 2005. It wasnt in great condition but works perfectly!

Im gona open her up and check her out tho im not an electriction or know much anbout it, maybe il see something out of the blue?

If anyone knows of a reasonable person to send the mks-70 to for fixing, that would be super as im not rich and wouldnt want to buy another one again!!!

I seem to remember Harmony Central KSS member Gilwe having a problem with his MKS70's display, and I think he managed to fix it. It might be worth PM'ing him. I don't think he frequents GS much unfortunatley.

Worth a try maybe.

Sell them separate but not at the same time. Also check eBay's saturation levels for optimal bids. Possibly sell International, most usually end up being sold to the U.S. and you'll get more people bidding the auction up from abroad. (doesn't matter much if your not from the U.S.)

What exactly is wrong with the devices?

A completed list check on eBay shows the programmer is going for around $450 alone.

$700 for the MKS-70 in MINT.

Programmers will be easy to sell via ebay, not mains restricted or large. Keyboards not so much.. mostly due to p&p or the fact most owners simply want to add the programmer.

Around here: Alpha Juno ~175$, MKS-70 ~250$. Of course this is for 100 per cent working units.
