how do i sync an SCI Pro One ?

Hi,

i am a proud new owner of an SCI pro one and while i love the synth i am having trouble to sync the ARP/Internal Sequencer.

I am trying to use the sync out of my MPC-60 (MPC60 Sync out, into the CLock in of the Pro one, then put it on EXT), but the sequencer of SCI does not start...whats the correct way of syncing the pro one ?

thanx

Marc

If the panel switch is in EXT, the Pro-One is looking for an analog sequencer like pulse to step the sequencer. The manual says a +5 volt pulse.

Check the MPC 60 Sync screen to make sure the Sync output is set to 1/4 clicks and you're using the correct port.

If that doesn't work, the sync signal may not be hot enough to drive the Pro-One.

you could look into getting a midi to CV/Gate converter.
many of which also come with a clock out, so you could sequence it externally with midi or use the onboard sequencer in sync.

just get a USB SOLO.

Unfortunately it has a lot of features that I don't know how to use but it syncs the Pro very nicely.

I have a kenton Pro 4 that I use to sync my pro 1 (all pro...lol)
BUt at first my pro 4 wasn't getting midi clock cause I hadn't told Logic (pro) to send clock on that AMT8 port. Maybe Its something like that?Enabling midi clock into your pro solo?

On the pro solo Make sure you have (CL) on for the AUX which is number 20 when you scroll up the parameters. also set your clock divider to your preference.

I just use the gate out from my ProSolo (I have the MK1 and there is no clock on the AUX output). Set up a MIDI clip in your sequencer that sends any old note and the gate output will trigger the sequencer.

Not sure about the clock on the ProSolo MKII, but by doing it this way on the MK1 the sequencer on the Pro~One will swing with whatever swing value you have on the MIDI clip sending trigger notes. Plus you can set up weird sequences, like "play 8 steps, pause for 4 steps, play another 6 steps at half-speed" etc. Good times.

i will try that tonight.

what i found strange was that i did not have to switch my pro one to EXT, it just started syncing as soon as i got the settings right.

so i could just use something like a tom sound off my mpc and feed the signal into the clk in of the sci pro one ?
(sorry for my lack of knowledge but this is my first sci analog synth...)

Yes you don't have to switch to EXT trigger mode to clock the sequencer as far as I can tell. The only time I use EXT mode is when I want to trigger/gate the envelopes from an external source like the ProSolo or a trigger out from a drum machine.

As for triggering with an audio signal, I've never tried that myself. In the past I've read about people attempting to trigger the arp in a Juno60 that way and the results have been sketchy. Best results seemed to come from a very short pulse like a rimshot. Let us know if it works!
