those PC bank editor softwares on the net were verry usefull.

the only thing i didnt liked about FM synthesis is that Aphex Aural Exiter 104 c2 didnt seem to mix well, like for example Juno-60 that worked amazing with a bit of aural exiter.

Haha, thanks! Yes, bananas are a very deliberate choice. I've had a couple of chances to demo a 3 panel Modcan B system, as well as a 4 panel Serge system, and some Buchla 200e systems, all in the same room. I sort of envision my future Modcan A system to be a marriage of Buchla and Serge concepts, and for that to happen, the Low Pass Gates module was very critical for me to attain.

The 1073 MPF is truly stellar. I actually had a single channel BAE 1073 with the full EQ, but most of the time I used the high pass filter, so replacing it with the MPF meant I got two channels of what I love

I have a bunch of midi/cv converters around the room, and a couple of things that output CV gate too... so no MIDI is not such an issue for me.

if it's your only synth, or you don't have any CV sequencers or midi/CV converters it might be a bit of a pain, but it's integrated perfectly with my CV gear. in fact a 303 driving the SEM is a match made in heaven.

I never want to sell any synth, but my wife tends to get pretty persuasive if there are too many of them hanging around.

She's usually ok if I tell her I bought it to fix up and resell. I'll just have to see how long I can put off the "resell" part. I have been eBaying off some of my (non-synth-related) junk recently so maybe that'll help with the approval factor.

That said, I have to really spoil her this Valentine's Day since the Pro One is expected to arrive on Monday... and it's a holiday too, so I'll be home!

Next time we move though, I want a house that has a room I can fill with synths.

Things that have arrived this month:

The mixer, power supply, and foogers aren't new but everything else is (including the rack). Nice-racks.com makes a very classy product; I've got two more of their racks on the way (one of which will house, inter alia, the Sherman that is currently homeless).

The studio's a wreck right now. Forgive the carpet - I rent. :-)

It's a bigger book than I expected too. If one wanted to read the whole thing: it would take a while! Nice to have the DVD with reference examples as well.

I sold my first one last year to finance my Machinedrum UW, but I knew I would eventually get another one. This one's in great shape, with original box, manual, and AC adapter.

I'm hoping to get mine on Monday, too. But since it's a holiday I don't think it's going to arrive until Tuesday <frown>.

UPS delivers on President's Day I believe... at least the tracking info on mine says 2/15 expected delivery. So you might get it on Monday too.

I like LPGs too. Just ordered a Wiard Borg. have a Fonik P3100 resonator kit and a Plan B M13.
It's the (soft) sound I was missing all those years.
It's funny that you chose modcan from those three. I can totally relate to that choice.
and so it starts, yes

I've never tried the Aurora because they're not available in Canada, but I have heard lots of great things about them. Meanwhile I have shot the BAE against AMS Neve and vintage Neve and to me it's the real deal.

A few more:

The V-AMP was half the price of the Pod and had a better interface.

The CC300 Space Chorus is a Boss Dimension C clone for peanuts.

The Virtualizer DSP2024P has a great interface and a ton of quite decent effects for very little. The new FX2000 is an update of it with their RSM modeling effects.

Their BCR2000 MIDI knob boxes are a steal.

Here's the samples I promised (24-bit/44.1k .wav files)

Neptune 2 > ADA8000

Virus TI > ADA8000

Stylus RMX (recorded from the ADA8000 outputs routed back into the input)

These were recorded using the RME Fireface 400 as the master clock source. I was able to properly fit the BNC cable and terminate the signal at the ADA8000. If the levels seem low it's because I don't bring my shit to the edge of clipping when I track.
