ableton or logic for electronic music production?

so i have both ableton and logic. im alot more familiar with ableton but logic seems to run a little smoother and have a little better overall sound.so i guess my question is would logic be as powerfull as ableton for sidechain, major sound warping/shaping,sampling,glitching,or should i just stick with ableton? maybe rewire beetween the two? what cha think yall?

ableton if you want to do stuff live too

I'm a Digital Performer user who has been doing most of my work in Live since July. At first I was sure that I'd be using ReWire to run Live into DP but I've come to the conclusion that I can do ALMOST everything I want in Live at this point and the extra kludge and processor hit isn't worth the extra program running. So Live has become my main environment, and I'm not a DJ or live electronic music performer. I like it as a studio tool.

Live's workflow is different from a regular DAW, but it can do very complex routing at this point and the sound quality is great. I find it much more fun to use. Except, of course, when it crashes (but then so does DP, and Live recovers much better).

That said, Logic users all swear by their included plugs and softsynths, so there you go.

i posted a thread about logic users and the plugs they used the most and youd be surprised how much logic users don't like logic's plug-ins

honestly i don't use any of it's software instruments myself and only a few of the software effects get used on a regular basis

I use Live as a production tool - I think it's the bee's knee's for the writing stage.

Fascinating. It's the same for me on Live. I use the usual 3rd party stuff myself -- UAD, SoundToys, Audio Ease, Native Instruments. Though occasionally I'll use Live's plugs, especially the wackier ones.

i switched from cubase to live as i could just do things that were complicated really quickly

i cant use the synths in live, too small but the effects are good for quickly getting stuff down when you have a creative flush

Does Live support midi and VST when it´s a slave to logic?

I do like logics plug ins a lot but enjoy audio & midi more on ableton.

thanks,
sl

i have plenty of nice outboard and third party plugs to use in logic, and I often grab logic plugs for various tasks, even the comp and eq. Quick and processor friendly.

No, and I think that's a ReWire issue.

i have uses for logic, reason and pro tools. you don't have to use one or the other. starting a track in one DAW and finishing it in another always gives me interesting results.
