Proper maintainance and cleaning

Please, share your chores list! How do you dust them, how often do you service them? Are they covered when not in use? Is there any particular items that makes maintaining your babies easier?

My outboard modular mixer is ALWAYS covered as I spent 6 months cleaning that baby out. Most of my synths that are not being used always have a cover on them all of the time. The ones that are not covered are routinely used around the clock and are dusted with a cleaning duster once a week. I have a cat, so my studio room carpet is vacuumed once or twice a week. Every few months I vacuum behind my desk and under all my cables, unplug my power strips, clean and vacuum them to prevent any fire hazards.

Nowadays I don't do I thing.

I used to cover my keyboards with large tea towels along with the desk but I found that I just was less inspired to use them.

No pets or air registers so the studio says quite clean for months on end. Air conditioning in Montreal is a short three months.

Don't forget to check battery condition regularly, particularly in machines that are prone to leakage like the Polysix, OSCar, JP4, Kurz K250, Linn Drum. Also it pays to exercise every control on every machine every few months, as some sliders and knobs and switches almost never get used. Exercise jacks as well, and treat with Deoxit. Check captive mains cords for damage and fraying. I use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment and a hand held paint brush together for dusting.
