Angel City Turbo Mod - Korg DW 8000 System Expasion

Searched the archives here for info on a mod, but alas no new info.

Anyone here have any success with an Angel City Turbo mod made for the Korg DW/EX 8000?

I have a Korg DW 8000 and have been trying to get in touch with the German company Musitronics to see if they still offer the System Expansion/ Angel City Turbo mod. Seems the Angel City peeps disappeared awhile ago. Anyone know if the mod is available anywhere else?

KORG DW8000-EX

Any help appreciated. Would love to expand the capabilities of my DW 8000.
Love that synth.

I've tried emailing Musitronics but have not received a response back. I've emailed to: info@musitronics.de

Anyone have an alternate email address for Musitronics?

Would love to get the Angel City 'SystemExpansion' from them.
Seems they are my last hope for the mod to my Korg DW 8000 unless someone out there knows of another source for the mod?

Here's a page with a picture of one.
Korg DW-8000 and Korg DW-8000EX mkII Angel City by Musitronics @ deep!sonic

And here is some info from Winky:

It's a guy, I forget his name, who makes a replacement CPU board for the
Korg DW-8000 (won't work with the EX-8000). The new board gives you two part
multi-timbral, splits, and new modulation routings.

He also sells patches for the DW (and EX) 8000.

And then somehow I found this site:

KORG DW8000-EX

I had the Angel City TurboDW mod

My band bought me the TurboDW mod back in the early 90s - it was great. Then I lost my DW8000 during a move from FL to GA. I have since acquired another DW8000, but miss having the mod.

The Musitronics expander has many of the features of TurboDW - split, layer, etc. But one of my favorite features was the 8 banks of patches onboard. That was a great thing to have. That, and the sample-n-hold LFO. The musitronics "random MG" might be a similar thing, though.

I will have to think about whether or not I want to invest $100 or so in this - but thanks to this board I have the choice to!

Out of interest, was there anything like this for the DW6000?

Post Turbo-DW info from Angel City Audio

Yes, I stopped manufacturing the Turbo DW expansion around 1997. I now only work in my own studio and on my own recording projects. Yes, I still use the Turbo DW!

We never succeeded in getting a version for the EX 8000 up and running: there were always some timing bugs that just didn't quite pass muster. If you can locate Oliver at Musictronics in Germany he may be able to help you. I gave him permission to sell copies of all of my DW 8000 sound libraries along with the Turbo DW.

I saw something online recently in Czechoslovakia that had a really horrible mash up of my manual... barely readable, not accurate, almost unrecognizable; truly bizarre. If there is a lot of interest, perhaps I could scan the manual and post it online somewhere. Any suggestions?

I bought the expansion from Oliver at musitronics maybe 5-6 years ago. The most useful feature, I thought, was the expansion of the internal sound memory. Everything else needed a lot of planning. Worked fine though.
