| Lives for gear | Chorus stompbox for the DX7 I've got a TC M300 which is serviceable for reverb and delay - but the chorus on it simply sucks. That's pretty much it in terms of outboard, since my Digitech DSP16+ is permanently set to the Canyon reverb preset (which is a good thing since the encoder went stupid so switching presets with the dial is a nightmare). Anyway, I've got a DX7 (and more FM stuff). I'm looking for a cheap way to add some silver lining, and that makes one end up at a chorus. I don't need anything with a boatload of functions: I just want the chorus to be creamy and sort of like on my Juno-60 (yes, I know about the Boss CE-300 but I don't want to spend that much and I'm not snobbish about having a perfect replica). I'd also like it to be stereo. I was eyeing LINE6 TONE CORE SPACE CHORUS - Dutch International Cyberstore - but if you have any better suggestions, I'm all ears. |

| I would certainly consider a Boss SE-70 for warm, very affordable, and quite programmable chorus effects. |

| Behringer's clone of the Dimension C is not bad, my only complaint is lack of headroom on it. Some examples here: dvdborn The Dimensions are all about subtle chorus and magic stereo width so maybe not a good choice if you're after something swirly that sticks out. A Yamaha unit with their Symphonic chorus would work well on a DX. If you want it dirty and cheap try a REX50/SPX50D. Another Behringer option - the DSP2024P Virtualizer has got some nice choruses along with phasers, flangers and a load of other stuff. Very cheap to try. That Line 6 pedal looks good and not too pricey though. |

| Lives for gear | The demos are exactly what I'm looking for, and the subtle effect is what I want. It should have space without swirling all over the place, so I'm put the pedal on my list of stuff to buy. Thanks! |

| Is the CE-300 that expensive?? I know they're bloody rare, but I don't think I've ever seen one for sale much over AU$120, and I got mine a year or so ago for AU$75. |

| Boss CE5 Chorus Ensambel. Does mono to stereo, in case it's DX7 MK-I that you have. |

Yes I normally use my SPX900's "symphonic" preset as a chorus. Not so how for pads but great for lead lines.

| +1 for the SE70. Considering the prices these go for it is very versatile and can be used for a lot of things, including chorus.

I don't have any experience with the Behringer - I've used the DimD and Seraph - and I own the DimC and SDX-330. I agree that their characteristic sound combines well with 1st-gen Yamaha FM - it can sound amazingly vintage 80s or quite modern. cheers, Ian

| Yes. I use it on my Prophet 5 and it is beautiful. You have to turn the synth output down as to not overload the input and it works like a charm. Extremely versatile pedal. The vibrato is also great. The really cool thing about the Red Witch is the ability to change to character of the pedal with the voice dial. It changes the time offset, or something of that nature, and alows the pedal to go from clean, sterile and noise free all the way to super lush, juicy and noisy. It covers all ground in between with a little tweaking. It is not cheap at 300 bucks but worth every dime. |

| Thanks for reply. I'm torn between the Empress and Deluxe Moon Phaser now - I'm playing with D16 Fazortran virtual phase shifter demo and have already acquired taste for a good phaser. The Moon Phaser's got a switch inside that serves as a signal pad to prevent overload. Happy New Year ![]() |
