Question Vermona Retroverb Owners, a quick question...

I just bought one of these second hand. When I am in modes 1/2 (reverb modes), the pure wet signal is very low compared to the dry. This is not the case in modes 3/4 (VCF and VCA are off). The guy I bought it from says this is how it's supposed to work, but I suspect it may be a lemon. Any one can shed some light I would be very thankful.

MerryHappy ChrismaKwanzakkah,

J

not to state the obvious but in the output section there is a 'direct/effect' balance knob.. essentially a wet dry knob... also an output knob can be turned up.

the vcf and env will change the sound quite a bit.

turn everything on and have the filter open (no effect) and envelope set to fast attack long decay.

also, it sounds different depending on the source material. and the input level makes a lot of difference on the effect as well.

try experimenting before you make up your mind.

thanks for the reply. sorry, i should have been more clear. yes, it's when i turn the knob from direct to effect that the signal drops off dramatically. i've tried the output and input knobs in a variety of positions, but wherever they are, the effect signal is always way lower than the direct. i have the vca and vcf buttons off, so, correct me if i'm wrong, but those shouldn't be doing anything. i've tried it with both a synth and line level dj mixer output plugged directly, and on the aux loop of my board.

i guess my question is just do you ever experience this drop when turning the knob from direct to effect?

thanks,
j

I am away from my studio this week, and haven't used my Retroverb recently, but I don't remember having this issue. I will check later this week when I get home to confirm.
