I went ahead and got to the point where I felt it was close enough to being finished to satisfy me for now.

Adjusted the mix to give it a bit more warmth and not so much bite.
Also added a new synth piano line towards the end.

I went ahead and updated the original link to the updated ver. Enjoy.

I think for now I am going to try something a bit more minimal as a previous post suggested.

I have a bad habit of cramming too many elements in my music so this should be a challenge.

Its Obvious that this track and the others you have posted are nearly there. And sound very accomplished.

Obviously you need to get your content finalized before you venture anywhere else but have you thought about getting them mixed in a commercial studio?

A good mix with a great engineer in a big analogue mixing room with loads of outboard gear and a nice desk will do no end of good for the warmth and depth of your tracks. It will certainly take that digital edge of everything.

Prodigy, Massive Attack and chemical brothers to name but a few all have their stuff mixed this way.

Then you can get the tracks released and noticed. Judging by the feedback here, I am sure they will be well received.

Good luck!

( Oh and thanks for the info on the vocals!!!)

Cool track!
What are you using for reverb? And what synth for that paddy background?

Sounds finished. Be nice to yourself and delete the project files, no more "small things" to fix! e... I find myself working on detatails forever.

Haha it's tempting but no I must keep the project files.

I use Lexicon Pantheon for reverb. Nothing special really. I do find that adding a slight delay helps create longer feeling reverb though.

Cool as shit, the only thing I could think to change as I listened was perhaps a little more anticipation for when the beat drops, the reverse kick was cool, maybe use a kick that has a longer release and reverse that? Hard to say, but the beat drop is such a crucial part of this song, perhaps you could embelish it. Definately cool though, Mixwise sounded fine through these headphones.

I really liked the tune. I like the first half more than the second. I enjoyed the introduction of the beat, and thought the elements came together well at that stage. I actually felt like moving to it.

I agree with this. I thought something of a dulcet tone might be nicer here. I also thought the feeling of the tune changed somewhat at that point. Not sure if that was intentional.

Production wise, I like it, and I certainly prefer it to anything I have ever done. I did find the verb a little too prominent, though fits the overall feel of the tune well. I really liked the vocal treatment.

Funny that people keep calling it an Indian flute when it's actually Chinese but whatever. Thanks for the compliments. I dont know if I know what a dulcet even sounds like.

Well, I didn't really think the sound/instrument was Indian. I just thought it was easier to continue from a point which had already been raised. I think the Indian reference was really more to the style of the music, than the instrument.

Well deserved, I think. You've done a good job.

Uhh, not sure if that was sarcastic or not. By dulcet, I just meant mellow and pleasant in character. I'm not aware of their having been an instrument named as such.

No I was not being sarcastic. I honestly did not know what the word meant so I googled it and saw something about an English Horn so I figured that's what you were talking about.

Now that I am looking again I cannot find that same definition so maybe I was just high at the time. lol

But yea now I know what the word means after looking it up again.
