Thread Starter | Stupid CME keyboard kills all other midi devices I have had this happen with more than one computer and I have yet to find a solution other than reinstalling windows. I'm running XP on my main computer and have a CME UF8 running along with a few other usb midi devices. What usually happens is somewhere down the line the computer will crash and when I bring it back up the only device I can get to work is the CME, everything else is screwed. Windows knows the devices are there but it wont put out a midi signal in any of my DAWs. Anyone else ever have an issue like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| You could try using the following tool to view and modify all USB connections into the computer. There could be old conflicts there that are causing problems. Try clearing the whole lot out and starting from scratch. USBDeview - View all installed/connected USB devices on your system |

| Lives for gear | cme usb is famous for being horrible. would strongly advise against it. try using a different usb/midi box and plugging in the cme via midi. |

And the usb dview program didn't work. ehh.. it seems like more than a driver conflict.

if the cme is not plugged in via usb and instead through midi and the issue is still there you have to reinstall windows and clear out the driver cache you have something bad going on there. you can if you have an actual win xp install disc do a repair install which will clear out the drivers and only touch the windows side of things leaving all your programs still installed and all your documents and desktop stuff etc... still there. if you do have the disc make sure to uninstall any software related to the hardware first in the control panel under add remove programs. for instance anything like ati or nvidia driver uninstaller routines listed use them and anything that has a software app to control or install audio hardware like the m-audio stuff etc... uninstall those as well.

| CME means troubles, sorry to say that but there are too many comments like yours. Do yourself a favour, if you need a serious keyboard get a Fatar/Studiologic (there are some new models just out, like the Numa and Numa Nano) or a Doepfer (which has and older Fatar keybed anyway).
